Only order sushi
The place has a great atmosphere and nice staff, but slow service. The chicken teriyaki was not good with unappetizing chicken. The salad was part warm and part ice cold. The sushi looked great, so I would say only order the sushi, not any of the hot dishes.

What happened?
The sushi lunch from Natsumi used to be my weekly treat. The fish was like butter, always fresh and the beautifully presented. But it became too expensive about a year and a half ago and I went somewhere else. Today, after thinking about Natsumi all morning, I ordered the sushi lunch again. The fish was so-so, the roll was sloppy and it was 18 bucks. I'm not happy and won't be returning for a while.

Great Edamame Dumplings
Love this restaurant for biz lunch. Great food, great service and some unusual offerings... Yum

Good value
Very good value, reasonable quality, reasonable variety, service is OK, Sake choice is OK and stays open late enough for me to eat after early evening flight from London. I would prefer a more Japanese atmosphere but it is OK. There are better sushi bars in NYC but to find one substantially better they seem to cost about 2 to 3 times as much. There are many that people rave about for trendy rolls that in my experience have lower grade sushi/sashimi (I mix fish quality and knife skills)

Disappointed on soup portion for take out
I eat at Natsumi at least once a month and usually get the maki combo or bento box lunch which is a very good deal. I have been ill and wanted something hot so I picked up the Spicy seafood lemon grass soup. I had asked initially if this was a large soup and was told yes but was very disappointed by the take out size ( pint) and there was hardly any seafood or noodles in it. One shrimp and a 1 inch peice of salmon and 2 bay scallops and maybe 15 very thin rice noodles. If I was feeling better I would have brought it back. For $9.00 this is a ridiculously small portion size. I will never order this again.

Good Quality Modern Japanese Fare
We love 7 items on their dinner menu and always look forward to coming back for more :) The following dishes are outstanding in taste and i'd highly recommend them to anyone interested in trying out Natsumi for the first time: - Endive Mustard Unagi. - Salmon Shiso Avocado Tartar. - Miso Black Cod. - Butterfly Green Tea Ravioli. - Toro Lounge. - Natsumi Sushi Sashimi Set. - Fried Cheese Cake (for the topping, fresh mango is far superior compared to any kind of berries). The only item we hated was their King Crab Dumpling. The filling was almost like a cream and we found it a little too lacking in texture for our taste. Their Crisp Calamari and Tempuras are very ordinary. The service staff can be a little impatient when the kitchen gets busy.

Good Sushi
I stopped by for take-out - had a spicy/crunchy tuna roll & a shrimp tempura roll - both were good - the dipping dressing they serve with it is very tasty too.
