tasty food, great value
i love this place! the fare here is mainly home-cooked uzbeki with some russian influence (like the home-made kompot), and it's amazingly cheap and really tasty. my favorite is the fluffy pumpkin samsa (less vegetarian than it sounds: the pumpkin stuffing is laced with lamb fat) and the fire-roasted eggplant salad; while the bf prefers the shishkebabs and lulya (minced lamb meat kebab). this is not a place to have a refined evening, as the restaurant is both quite small and rather popular with the russian crowd. it's also BYOB. a word of warning: a long wait on the weekends and a language barrier might deter a timid traveler, but the food is well worth the challenge.
