good food, poor service
My husband and I stopped in for a light lunch. The food was fresh and delicious. However, I've rarely experienced worse service. As we were finishing up our meal, the waiter swooped in and grabbed our plates without so much as looking at us or asking if we were done. I had food in my mouth so couldn't say anything to stop him from removing my plate. I was left stunned and angry.

Absolutely Incredible
I took my family here and it was the best appetizers and pizza we ever had. We got the fried calamari and caprese salad and then a pizza with prosciutto and arugula. Although it was slightly pricey (over $100 for lunch for 3 people), it was absolutely delicious. Our server was amazing. Our glasses were never more than 1/2 empty and we were continuously being "checked up" on. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone taking a trip to NYC!

Acceptable in most ways, but loud
The food at Naples is dependable. It's not fabulous, but it's always good. The service also is good. The prices are okay, although not great. (My favorite example is the breakfast french toast. You get three triangles from two slices of bread cut diagonally in half. Where's the fourth triangle?) The room is bustling and somewhat cafeteria-like, which wouldn't be bad if it weren't so LOUD. You literally cannot hear someone sitting directly across the table from you. I love their spaghetti ruvidi, their thin pizza and a few other dishes, but even though it's conveniently located, and they can usually seat you, even without a reservation, in ten minutes or less, I've stopped eating in because it's so unpleasant.

Best in midtown for group
Although disappointed in the service for charging again for a replacement of a spilled soda (!) the food is really good (consistent) and the roominess of the place makes it ideal for larger parties (and children!). Very few places in midtown can compare.

Good, but real pricey
I came for lunch with a friend, ordered a couple of pizzas and a salad and the bill came to almost $70. Food was good quality, but the prices are outrageous. You should only come here if you are on an expense account. Also sit outside, the inside seating area is ridiculously loud.

thumbs up!
I agree with the previous reviewer -- the pizza was quite similar to what I had in Sicily just recently: the crust was nicely charred yet chewy enough to hold the toppings, the mozzarella was real, and the tomato sauce was fresh and light, not overly salty like NY pizza tends to be. I was with a small group, and we all loved our pizzas and pastas, meatballs and arancini and salads and soups. The waiters, with one spaced-out exception, were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is nice and quiet after the commuter crowds depart!

Closest thing to being in Italy
I am truly shocked at the reviews posted here about the pizza. Obviously the reviewers have never been to Italy and are just used to the mediocre NY version. I think that Naples is the best kept pizza secret in NYC and personally I don't mind keeping it that way. I always have a slice in my frig. It is an instant trip back to Italy. The staff is always very pleasant and top notch.
