Hip Kosher Restaurant Finally Arrives on the Upper West Side

If your looking for old world "dairy" - this isn't for you. Finally, a kosher restaurant that has a hip feel and offers upscale comfort food while only using fresh ingredients. We started with the tomato basil soup and eggplant rollatini which were delicious. I had the nicoise salad (a large overflowing bowl) and my husband had the halibut - both were outstanding. For dessert we shared the white chocolate mousse cake which is to die for. During the meal the owner stopped by to see how our meal was which was a very nice touch. The wait staff was very attentive and they had a great understanding of the menu. I would highly recommend this place and look forward to returning soon.

Great Food Which Happens to be Kosher

As a long time non-kosher resident of the UWS - I eat out at least 5 times a week. I pleasantly stumbled upon My Most Favorite Food on my way down to Riverside Park and have frequented it several times now. Everything I've ordered has been superb and fresh. It compares to some of the better non-kosher restaurants in the neighborhood that I eat out at. The first time I dined there, I started with the shiitake mushroom skewer salad and loved the dressing so much that I took home a 16oz container of it. I then had the Grilled Ahi Tuna (cooked to perfection) and substituted the fries for sweet potato fries and they were beyond. For dessert I had the chocolate peanut butter tart and an iced cappuccino and it was one of the best "homemade" desserts I've ever had. The cappuccino reminded me of my trip to Italy last summer. I returned to My Most Favorite Food on Tuesday and they had standing line only. The staff was terrific and kept me informed of when a table would be opening. I had the tuna bolognese and it was delicious - as good as my grandmother's meat sauce. My server was attentive and very accomodating. For dessert I had the strawberry shortcake - need I say more - fresh strawberries and whipped cream!! This restaurant is for people with discerning palates.

kinks are out, as far as I see

I was there on a Thursday night. Half full. I sat in the enclosed courtyard in the back with my fellow tribesmen and ladies. I had the wild salmon. I could tell it was fresh, which is always nice. It came with sweet potato fries: why yes, I will. I had the apple crumb dish for dessert. They always do good desserts. Bottom line: It's a great date place, or a special occasion place. It's not a diner. I think that's what people are confused about. There are cheaper options nearby, but the food is better here.

    subpar

If you're looking for a miserable, overpriced meal, you've found the place! The food isn't good, but that's the best part of this place. They seat you at a table too samll for your party, won't move you when the lights go off and the a/c stops working in your area and then can't calculate the bill because of computer problems. Then, to add insult to injury, they decide they can't accept credit cards!

    too expensive for nothing!!

ordered a grilled salmon caesar salad to go which ended being $17 and change. I was hoping it was going to be filling for that price yet it was similar to a side salad wth small salmon steak. Completely not worth $17!

    Nickle and dimed

I had to laugh when I read other reviews of this testaurant and how they nickle and dime customers. I recently went there to celebrate my mother's birthday (we were a party of 9) and were on the whole pleased with the food and service. When the birthday cake arrived, which we ordered when we made the reservations, we were told that they charge $1.50 per slice to cut it. This sounded ridiculous so we said that we would slice it ourselves. The waiter said he could not give us a knife because someone cut get hurt and sue the restaurant! We just finished eating dinner and believe me we all used cutlery with our food. I argued with management and was told the slicing fee was comparable to a corkage fee and that it was a business decision. While I can understand corkage fees when one brings one's own bottle to a restaurant and asks the waiter to serve it, in this case we paid the restaurant $30 for this 6 inch cake, plus an extra $3.50 for them to write "Happy Birthday" on it. Also there was no mention of this charge when we ordered the cake. After several minutes of arguing, they finally agreed not to charge us.
