    Just for the dessert

Wife and I visited the restaurant on Wed Oct 21st 2009. Although we had a late dinner elsewhere and just dropped in for desert, they were very accommodating and treated us with as much attention as if we were there for dinner. All the desserts are good but the chocolate ribbon cake is always my favorite.

    Not the best I've had...

I just went tonight - Oct 31st 2009.... We got not-such-a-good seat. The waiter was nice, but very slow since he was waiting a million other tables. Food was slow to come and when it did, it wasn't exciting. A bit boring and majorly overpriced.

It happened that three of my friends birthdays fell out on the same weekend, so to celebrate, our whole crew of friends (about 15 of us) decided to go out to the city for dinner. We ended up coming to this place. Worst decision ever! It was hell. We were seated very quickly and i was quite pleased about that (but it might have been because it was empty). I took a look at the menu and then laughed. I looked up and saw that everyone else had the same look on their faces. I gave a double take at the menu and I just assumed that it was probably really good food or really good portions. Boy was I in for a big surprise! The food wasn't even good. If you examine the menu you will find that they come up with these really sleazy ways to nickel and dime their customers. They charge a fee of $6 if two people in your party want to share a dish. They also wanted to charge $12 for each person that didn't order food. Apparently nothing in this world is free so two of my friends that weren't hungry enough to empty out their wallets on a mediocre dinner left to wait in the car until we all finished eating. The bill came out to $375 between 13 people that ate (remember it was 15 of us minus the 2 that didn't want to add a $24 charge to the bill just to sit and watch us eat). We left and we were all wondering how this place is still in business! If you ask me, you are better off in Le Marais where you will eat for the same price but actually get a good meal and sit in a nice environment.

We made a rsvp for 20 people and when only 19 showed up they wanted to charge us $18 for that missing person. Furthermore, when a friend came to sit down after 20 minutes of not ordering they told him that he needs to order or leave (note: the restaurant was EMPTY- we were the only people there!!!!) Furthermore, the manger stands on top of your head counting the amount of people that are sitting down throughout the whole meal making all the guests feel uncomfortable. To make things worse the food is overpriced. Would not recommend going there.

    Nickel and Diming

I just placed a catering order for some breakfast. They charge $2.50 extra per person for some paper plates and cutlery. Not even the cheapest deli does that.

    What a rip-off!

Mediocre, very overpriced food. The breads are too sweet, too. Very disappointing. I do NOT recommend this restaurant. The lunch was double in price what it should have been. Even at a sane price, the food still would have been mediocre.

    Service good, food terrible

In my opinion, the restaurant is not worth it. While the service is helpful and attentive, the food is far too expensive. Even if it were good, it would be overpriced, but it's not even worth a fraction of its cost. I ordered the gnocchi and tomato sauce, and it was watery and tasted sort of old - I couldn't even finish it! This was the last in a series of poor experiences here each time I hoped the food would get better or that perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, but no. The dessert is great though. I would recommend this place for dessert only. But for the complete dining experience, I felt this place was lacking.
