Mumtaz India Restaurant

Bland, tasteless, overcooked. Very dissappointing. I'm from India and this has got to be the poorest Indian food I've tasted in New York. Don't waste your money here.

the delivery was quick and timely! But the lamb curry was a disaster. I mean he confirmed "spicy" (me being an Indian) but the lamb vindaloo came full of sugar taste (Made for American taste perhaps!) but at the same time there was tons (I mean tons) of chilli there. I guess he heard me saying spicy and he went and added lots of chilli to the already made curry. More chilli was ok with me but sugar and chilli bad combination. Spoiled my dinner ended up ordering chinese. I will never order from here again.

I think they give great, formal service when they are not busy; however, they are quite busy lately. I think the food is very good, I have eaten there many many times and had take outs many times. I like the decor inside the restaurant too. It's well worth the trip...try it....I have many items on the menu and was completely satisfied every time...

Absolutely amazing food! It was incredibly reasonable too. My cousin was visiting me and we weren't looking to pay Upper East Side Prices and we got Nan, 2 full meals, and wine for under $35! I now live downtown by Curry Row and I still come to Mumtaz. Service was good, atmosphere was nice but nothing special but, I go to eat not to look and this place is on my top 5 list of all the restaurants in the city!

Everything about Mumtaz is awesome. I love their vindaloo dishes, they can make it as spicy as you like and its a thicker sauce than most other Indian spots.....amazing.

The chicken was overcooked and flavorless, and the service was subpar. We visited the restaurant on 10/9 along with 3 other tables. It's not as if they were busy. I highly suggest you go elsewhere!

One of my favoirte places that I love going to (if not, the favorite). Their food is absolutely mouth wateringly delicious! I recommend trying the shrimp bhuna for the appetizer. For the main dish, I recommend having the chicken korma or the lamb tikka (chicken tandoori is good too)! Overall, if your're an indian food lover or someone who occasionally eats it, then this is the place to visit. The quality of food is superb with big portions given and the sauces are just amazingly rich with flavor! The decor is very traditional, replicating Mughal style, historical India looks like one big sultan's tent. It s nice feeling to being in the east with all of its decorative faboric and of past grandeur. The service is friendly and warm and the seats are comfortable!
