    Yummy!

Fun place! Nice atmosphere and friendly service. The food was yummy and they had no problem accommodating our being vegetarian.

    Excellent Korean, Sushi, and Service

Went here for the second time and really enjoyed it. Try the korean dishes--they're amazing. The korean dish with rib-eye beef in broth, cooked in an earthen pot was amazing! Also, contrary to what a previous reviewer stated, they didn't charge us anything for the kimchee or the other vegetables, I actually ordered an extra dish of kimchee and we weren't charged. Special rolls are really good---the Green roll was amazing in particular. Also, the waitress was really nice and helpful. Will definitely return!!

    Poor service!

I went here with my sister for dinner one night and overall had a pleasant experience. We only ordered the sushi, but found the rolls to be unique and delicious. My only issue was the server made a couple mistakes because there was a huge language barrier. A couple days later I ordered in with my boyfriend. He ordered some Korean dish that was the most awful thing we've ever tasted. We also ordered a sweet potato roll and got a WHITE potato roll instead!!??!! Gross. I also ordered a salmon avocado roll and asked for mango to be added. Instead I got a salmon avocado mango BOWL!! (Almost like a big salad.) I was so confused. The bowl cost extra and I didn't want it. I asked them to credit my card. THEY WOULDN'T! They said, they'd give me a free order next time, but I said NO because there will be no next time. I hate to say this, but the staff taking orders on the phone needs to be able to communicate in English. It is unacceptable that we had to pay $50 for a meal that half of which we never ordered!

    Surprisingly authentic Korean food

My first time ever having authentic Korean food outside of K Town or Flushing. This place rocks! I really can't believe that it's on the Upper East Side. And the service is great too. I had the spicy pork dish and the kalbi beef. Fantastic. Don't be put off by the very generic name of the restaurant. This is Korean food at its best.

    They charged for Kimchie

Normally in Korean restaurants they serve kimchie and other pickled bites of things prior to the meal. They brought us a tiny (really tiny) portion of kimchie. After we ate it, we asked for more and they brought it - another small bite. When they brought the check they charged us for it! I can't remember how much, $4 or $5. I told them that they should have told us they were going to charge for this - as this is not standard to charge for kimchie in korean restaurants (kimchie is quite inexpensive for them to buy). Instead of appologizing and taking it off the check, they just said sorry and kept it on the check. I felt a bit cheated that they would be so cheap. It isn't even on the menu to buy. I feel they would be shamed in KoreaTown! Food was good though.

    Nice Surprise--Authentic Korean Food

My husband and I enjoy Korean food but it's been sort of a hassle to travel to Korea Town. We saw Mr. Ginger many times walking by but took us months to try the place. (It may sound silly but the restaurant's name sounds a bit Chinese, and we wondered if the food is authentic Korean.) We were pleasantly surprised to find that the food is very much authentic and very good. We will still go to K Town, but Mr. Ginger is certainly an excellent option in our neighborhood.
