Good pizza/rude waiter
I brought my brother, daughter and my niece to this restaurant after having two very good meals and excellent service. We ordered two pizzas a beet salad, two glasses of wine and soft drinks for the girls. When we placed the order the waiter said "Is that all you are going to order"? I replied that it was. He then said "Just so that you know you can't order anymore, once I put the order in because we have people waiting". I was REALLY put off by this. My brother noted that there hardly seemed to be anyone around when left. I will avoid this restaurant if that guy is waiting tables again.

Good but could be better
The pizza is very good, but it was somewhat soggy in the middle. Would prefer to see it crisp everywhere. Taste and ingredients were very good. Service at lunch was friendly and prompt.

Skip it
I've passed by this restaurant often and always noticed the crowd. Inside it looked cozy and inviting. The food looked tasty and was presented nicely. So I decided to try it. Even though from the exterior this restaurant looks good, it's pretty much just a show. We had the the Mixed Green Salad and Cockle Clam Crostino “Al Bianco” for appetizers. The mixed green salad was just that served with a bland balsamic dressing. The clams were overcooked in an overly buttery garlic sauce. For our main course, we ordered the Margherita Pizza. It looked great on presentation, but the crust was extremely chewy and tasteless. The sauce and cheese weren't bad, but it didn't make up for the crust. My suggestion, go somewhere else and get a better meal.

Inconsistent
Sometimes great sometimes terrible and always about an hour wait.

Eh. . . .
I loved Una Pizza Napoletana, and tried very hard not to hold Motorino to the same expectations. Still, as others have observed, the pizza I had there was definitely undeserving of the hyperbolic praise heaped on it by the Times. I was more than willing to brave the crowds and the high prices of its predecessor, but the pizza at Motorino is not worth the hassle. While I agree with the reviewer who found the crust to be too puffy around the edges, the pizza here is by no means bad, but it is virtually indistinguishable from the other Neapolitan pizzerias that seem to have sprung up like mushrooms all over the city. For what it's worth, my dinner companion (who had never been to Una Pizza, and therefore came to Motorino with no preconceptions) felt the same way. Unlike many others here, however, I have no complaints about the service, which was polite and efficient. It was exactly what I would expect from such a frenetic restaurant. Don't blame the waitstaff for having to keep things moving; if you want to linger around the table after your meal, choose a place that doesn't have such a large crowd waiting for a table. In a word, the pizza was fine, but you can find restaurants with better ambiance, better prices, and comparable food in the neighborhood.

Not bad, but not great
Had to try this place out since it took over the space of my beloved Una Pizza Napoletana. Food was OK, though the pizza was uneven--some parts lacking in flavor, other parts tasty--and they really skimp on the tomato sauce, so it was pretty dry. The weekday lunch special's a pretty good deal though, $12 for a pizza and salad, if you don't mind eating an average pizza.

pretty good pizza....but was asked to leave!
Had a relatively good pizza experience...no Una Pizza for sure, but not bad... No better than the leagues of other Neopolitan pizza places all around. My biggest issue is that I was ASKED TO LEAVE after finishing my pizza. I was out with a friend, having a nice meal and it was ruined by a classless staff that 'needed our table'. All said and done, left me with a bad impression. Its a shame when the need to turn tables and make more profit kills a good dining experience..
