Peruvian Food in NYC Streets
I recently traveled to Peru and was blown away by the diverse and intricate cuisine. I was able to sample street food and for some reason tasted better than when I ate it at a restaurant. I wished that I could replicate that in New York City. Well to my surprise, my jaw dropped when I was walking by Union Square West almost at 14th Street and I see a Peruvian Food Cart. I immediately asked if they served anticuchos. The owner Rafael, chuckled at my excitement and said "We have been waiting for you my friend." I felt like I knew this guy all my life. He let me try the Aji de Gallina and I was hooked. He explained how hard it has been to get the business started, but that it has is good moments. I had a Chicha Morada, which is a purple corn drink. I had a huge smile on my face the rest of the day. I have visited the cart 3 more times and every time it is just incredible. I highly recommend. Miguel Samanez is the brains behind the food and have met him as well. He is very knowledgeable and has worked many places, but attributes his skills to his mom. By far my favorite cart, looking forward to the restaurant...
