I went to Morimoto on Friday Evening with my girlfriend for our One Year Anniversary. The entrance was just right and the interior was very decor and trendy.Ok the food~ our waitress recommended us Toro tartare for appetizer since it's most recommended. It was very different, but not really that good (Dont wanna recommend this dish). We had $100 of sashimi and the decoration was awesome, but found out that they tried to hide the unfreshness of sashimi by putting them on the huge ice with alot of decoration. If you are a big sashimi fan, do not have em here! You gonna regret. However, their infamous Braised Black Cod was AMAZing~! It was very delicious!Their Maki was delicious too.And other thing that i liked about Morimoto was their service. Our waitress was very attentative and professional, the bottom line, the service was perfect. It's a spot to try your dinner here, but I was let down with their sashimi. Overall, RECOMMENDED.

Morimoto is a great value for restaurant week. The sushi was delicious. Actually, their price fixe lunch is extended throughout the winter so I will be back again.

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner (we had 12 in our party). Was warmly greeted at the door by the hostess(es), which was a little surprising because usually in places that chic, you get a snotty hello along with a look up and down. But not here! Our waiter was such a sweetie, very attentive and polite. He even got Morimoto himself to come over and say hello AND take a picture with us. Right... the most important part... the food! Greaaaat sushi, the most expensive roll on the menu was less than $15. I've eaten at Blue Ribbon Sushi in soho where the cheapest roll there was $19! Morimoto, hands down was way better. A friend and I had the soft shell crab roll, spicy tuna roll (my fave), spicy yellowtail roll, eel and avocado roll, and a shrimp tempura roll. They also brought us special birthday desserts along with the ones we ordered. Overall, wonderful, wonderful night. I was very pleasantly surprised, especially at how attentive Morimoto was. He walked around the dining room greeting guests and making sure everyone was happy. Such a sweet guy! I will definitely be frequenting this place!!

Went last night to Morimoto b/c I had read that it was chosen as a top restaurant in the area. I happen to watch Iron Chef quite a bit and thought how bad could it be?? When I pulled up outside I was very excited b/c the atmosphere is trendy and hip and thought that if the food was going to match the atmosphere, I was going to be in for quite an amazing evening. The inside is sleek and crisp and has great energy if that is what you are looking for. The crowd is attractive and the drinks (especially the Morimoto Martini) are fabulous. On the other hand, the food was way below average. I ordered the angry chicken for my entree and it was dry and tough. For an appetizer I ordered the Tofu Miso Soup and that was cold and served with an over-abundance of raw green onions. A member of my party ordered the tempura rock shrimp which again lacked in taste and temperature. Even the desserts were none too appealing. My chocolate dessert was bitter and tasteless. All in all, if you are looking for a scene, Morimoto is the place to go to hob knob with the twenty-something modelesque wannabe's - but if food is what your quest is - the buck should not stop here!!

Went on Jan 3rd (weds night) to celebrate an anniversary and birthday, was a great experience. The server was amazingly attentive without bothering us, gave us champagne on the house to toast to and brought out a birthday dessert dish for me at the end of our dinner (on top of our already ordered desserts). Didn't get to see Morimoto as he was in and out the whole night but she managed to get a signed menu for me with a little birthday wish on it from him, very sweet. Had the kobe beef with the yellow tail (the surf and turf) for the main course and my boyfriend had the angry chicken, both were presented beautifully and tasted great, as were the appetizers and desserts. We dine at some of the best restaurants the city has to offer and this one will definitely be on our list to go back to, especially to try the Omakase menu.

Great place, perfect service, top food, portions seemed small first, but we left feeling full.. of course a lil bit pricey, but if u go to a place like this, u gotta assume they not gonna have "chinese-take out prices"..lol.. food presentation is nice, waiter was mad cool. we made a reservation through OpenTable, and were seated @ exact time. Sake selection is off the hook. Only thing, some tables were placed a lil bit to close 2 each other (@ the elevated area.. ) and Its definetly not a place for everyday lunch, (depends of course on ur finances ..) Besides that, a great place

my boyfriend and i went to morimoto for our anniversary dinner. we had 9:45 reservations but were only seated around 11/11:15. the hostess and manager apologized profusely and were kind enough to bring us glasses of champagne and delicious appetizers on the house. that is service! the food was delicious and it also felt great to indulge and be waited on with such respect and attention. we had a lot of food including the king crab leg appetizer, tuna pizza, tuna sashimi, spicy tuna roll, seafood platter and the cod. it was all delicious. we also had a lovely dessert. all in all the wait was ridiculous but we enjoyed ourserlves once seated. definitely check out the bathroom... its QUITE an experience! :)
