    Not Worth Your Time

We were really excited to try this new place. The only exciting part was when we left (still hungry too). Not one thing we had was good or, at least, decent. Plates were unappealing - small, boring looking, tasteless. The staff was scattered. Maybe it will get better but not likely. Eat before and then go for a glass of wine - that's your best bet.

    Keith McNally's wonderful new italian

A group of four of us went to Morandi on Wednesday night and had a wonderful dinner. The atmosphere was great - a rustic, bustling, farmhouse style environment with rows and rows of wine decanters and huge loaves of bread lined up on the walls. The food was truly exquisite and I would particularly recommend the mozzarella appetizer, spinach ravioli and the rabbit for an entree. The rabbit was some of the best flavours I've tasted in ages. The service was very quick and the staff, mostly from McNally's other restaurants, extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Four of us squeezed round a small table to avoid a long line and they were very accommodating. For the quality of the food Morandi is great value, and is a real gem of the best in New York restaurant life in what seems like a quieter part of town. A great place to bring out of town visitors - like Pastis and Schillers you're guaranteed a great atmosphere with all the tables full and a very good looking crowd! The restaurant is medium-sized I'd say - equally appropriate for groups or a fun intimate dinner.
