I eat lunch there about 3 times a week. The pulled pork sandwich is absolutely incredible (just don't get it to-go or delivered. the sauce is a little thin and tends to soak the bread). In reality though, the Miso-Glazed Salmon puts everything else to shame. It's really a great deal too. For 12 bucks (with tax and a good tip because the service is also super fast and attentive)

After 6 years in NY, I have eaten out a lot, but it is rare that I say 'wow.' In fact, this might be the first review I have ever written. But the pulled pork sandwich I had today is THAT good. It's not cheap, but it's big, so I made it lunch and dinner. Can't wait to try other stuff.

As I was sitting here hungover and disoriented on a cold and dreery saturday morning I decided I needed something immediately to lift my spirits. For all the emptiness inside me, mooncake FILLS THE VOID! Myself, as long as the relative stranger sitting next to me on my girlfriend's couch ordered mooncake and I cannot remember a time since the early 1990's that I have been so satisfied. The steak sandwich is a concert of flavors that will leave you yearning for more. The sliced steak plate is worth writing home about. I'm not kidding folks, I would write my parents a letter and tell them how tremendous mooncake is. I will certainly be ordering from mooncake again. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

This is BY FAR my favorite neighborhood spot....whether I stop in or order delivery, Mooncake never fails - I've had just about everything on the menu and can state without any qualification or hesitation that this is one of the very few places in NYC whose food routinely exceeds expectations - I ate at the most perfect, I-am-now-ready-to-die meal at Le Bernardin the other night and didn't think my week could get any better - Mooncake proves that perfection comes in many sizes, styles and price ranges....

(a) extremely cheap for New York for the quality. Sandwich for $7.60, plate with rice and greens for $8.80. (b) has the strange property that *anything* you order from there will be extremely good (except for the Asian Pear & Chicken Sausage salad, don't get that). The Smoked Whitefish Salad Sandwich ($7.60) is better than 90% of the other meals I have had in New York City, without conditions; the whitefish salad tastes like it was made from scratch 5 minutes earlier, and the bread on which it's served tastes as if it was just purchased from a Parisian street-corner bakery. (c) extremely fast. Food is almost always ready within 10 minutes. We order from 3 blocks away, and the time from order placement to order delivery is usually between 10 and 15 minutes.

I've only had the steak plate with cilantro, but it is the best meal I have had in my three years living in the city. It's also less then 10$!! My favorite place!

I've loved Mooncake for over two years now and I can't get enough. Their miso salmon is delicious. I don't even like miso that much but they do it wall. Their Thai Steak salad and Steak Plate with Cilantro and Ginger is to die for. In fact, I'm about to order some at work right now. Love it!
