Healthy, good food!
This is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Around Penn station there is very little good healthy quick food to eat. Mooncake is one of the only places around here to go. My favorite items are the Summer rolls, sliced steak plate, crawfish dumplings, wonton soup, New Zealand lobster tails on Thursdays. My partner is particularly fond of the spinach octopus noodles also. I would highly highly recommend going if you haven't been.

Meal with your salt?
Besides the options being eh, the food is way too salty and did not finish the plate. I'm still hungry. The chicken looks like it's totally processed. I've been here 2x leaving with similar thoughts.

Love Mooncake! Always eat there.
They are NOT too salty or sweet (& I am sensitive to that). And they are not greasy at all. And they are a bargain and the food is way above the paygrade. They have a light touch but it's not bland or diet-food-boring. They grill perfectly. I don't eat meat and the veggies (and the wonderful salad greens you get with almost everything) are like I had in California-like right off the farm or from the garden, crisp & flawless, especially in the summer/fall. I LOVE the salmon, fresh and not fishy. They use just the right seasonings somehow, lots of flavor but not overwhelming or too hot or burning. The spices have that fresh flavor that shows they care. And the place is sparkling clean. Every time I go into the city this is my 1st choice. I never had a bad meal there. They are very consistent. I have no connection to them, just a satisfied customer (for years now). I can't speak for the meat dishes, just the fish/shrimp/veggie/tofu ones. The service is quick and friendly. The air conditioning is great (and the heat in winter is fine too). I hate most of the greasy-spoon excuses for Asian restaurants, and Mooncake is just the opposite, a real gem.

No for me, maybe for you
If you don't mind Asian cuisine that tends to be too salty or too sugary, then mooncake is just fine. The food isn't bad but the above mentioned has been just too much for me to handle the past year and I can't eat here anymore. Just be forewarned if you prefer something healthier.

Mooncake rocks
Mooncake is the best! I've turned quite a few friends into converts after introducing them to the lobster mango rolls. The short ribs are unlike anything I've ever had and the steak sandwich remains one of the best things I've ever eaten . The space in midtown is clean and pretty despite the block it's on and the staff is nice if a tad slow. The quality of food you get for the money you spend in itself is worth the visit.

Disappointed
I have been getting take out from here for awhile, but recently, my orders have been getting messed up. Today, the vegetables in the kebab dish were not cooked at all. Who wants to eat raw onions and zucchini? Not me. I'll be finding someplace new for lunch.

Disappointed
Truely disappointed with the quailty of food and service. SOHO's location is the best!!!!
