this place is priced in the mid range for sushi restaurants but offer low quality fish with larger portions then you would expect of this type of quality fish. Less is more. If are looking for a quality product at this price try somewhere else. Amber is like same price but you cant even compare the quality of food.

Monster sushi is getting too pricey for its own good. They're not a 5 star restaurant but are charging 5 star restaurant prices. The 23rd St. location menu is outdated as well. They raised all the prices a while ago.

Used to visit Monster Sushi close to once or twice per month, but when I went back after it re-opened, I doubt I'd ever return. The food was average, the prices were too high considering the quality has decreased,...and the service, extremely poor. Our waitress was downright rude and agitated when I asked her to describe the difference between the cuts of sashimi in their two specials (the menu didn't state what kind of fish, just 9 pieces). When I saw there was an all tuna option, she exclaimed, "oh my god, make up your mind! so many questions!" Since when is two questions about the menu too much?

I use to love this place. But since it opened the sushi went down hill. the sushi rolls were very ricey. there was just a little fish and the fish was just okay...

This used to be my favorite Chelsea Sushi standby, but their recent remodeling has proven disastrous. It's bigger for sure, also a lot colder. Whoever designed it did it on the cheap. I felt like I was eating in a school cafeteria, and two flat screens blasting Animal Planet is downright inappropriate. No music even! The food also took a major downturn. A 15 dollar Dinosaur roll was all rice, and the fish, which used to be plentiful and excellent, was skimpy and only average in terms of freshness. A couple drinks each, and enough food to fill was 100 dollars with tip. And at 8pm, we were the only ones there. This place, which in the past I had been to at least 50 times, is now permanently off my list. Do not go here. Sad, really.

After being disappointed at another restaurant we decided to stop at Monster Sushi. Best idea of the day. The sushi was unbelievablye great and not badly priced. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere likening it to our favorite neighborhood eatery where everyone knows you. Service was a bit eh but not shabby either. Can't wait to hit this place again with more friends.

I love monster sushi. I have eaten sushi in so many places including living in tokyo for 6 months. Price, value, size, quality alll of thesse things are amazing here. COnsistantly the Uni .. My favorite is amazing. If somehting isnt wonderful, like the eel is cold a big no-no. they will take it back no worries. I love the service. Sometimes new servers arent sure what is on the menu or that you can SPECIAL order a roll any way you want it. The owner is always nice and loves to hear what you have to say. I live out of town but when i come to NYC I am addicted to monster. I eat here more than any other place in NYC. the only thing if i have to say one thingi isnt the "best" atmosphere is very simple. Great for a book. but there is always someone to talk to at the bar.
