Where is my steak tartare and chopped salad?

Although the new chef/menu are excellent and innovative I truly loved Monkey Bar for what I felt it was: a traditional old New York type dining experience with a menu to match- perfect ambiance and service as well. The new menu, while interesting, does not match the feel of the restaurant as well as the older menu did in my opinion. I am saddened that I can no longer seek Monkey Bar for a strong cocktail, a fabulous burger, my favorite chopped salad, and the best steak tartare in the city.

    Fabulous new chef

We had a great experience, new chef, innovative menu from the appetizers to the dessert. Tuna appetizer was fresh, pork belly appetizer was sensational and the duck entree with figs was excellent. The server was the sweetest. Brought us additional desserts on the house. Just a wonderful dinner. Hope they succeed!

    Fell off

We went at the end of the summer and the buzz was gone. Nobody worth mentioning goes here anymore it seems, and the food is tired. The tab is still the same though.

Very nice staff and great service

After reading some reviews, I was a little nervous about how I might be treated here, as I am not a regular or part of Graydon Carter's crowd, but I was incredibly surprised by just how nice and courteous everyone was. The food was actually quite good, as well. Was in NYC on business and stayed in the Elysee hotel and came in for a late supper-just the nicest service and good food. The wine selection was also quite good.

    Great classic NY restaurant

I go to MB quite often 3 times a month usually for dinner though I love lunch in the cozy bar. It is what I think of when I want a great NY atmosphere and just great quality AMERICAN food. Nothing I really have to think about it is what it is nothing too precious or pretentious just a great execution. I have had the burger to the lobster thermidor both so different and both excellent. They have really great fries and they are always good. not something all restaurants can do. so its a classic swanky place with really good food. The service, seems like there is always new people there or maybe just no one memorable?? I just don't get that familiar feeling from the staff who are nice and mostly competent. I go back for the food and the room. It feels like "Old New York." thanks

    M0nkey Business

The bar has lots of energy, but the dinning experience is lacking. Our Delmonico steaks were fatty and tough. To make matters worse, they were served cold. Save your money and go to "Out-Back,s"

    Great atmosphere, good food!

With all the hype surrounding this place, I was initially wondering if I could even get a reservation on thursday night! it was surprisingly easy, just emailed the reservations address and they responded. there's a doorman in the front who opens your cab door and welcomes you in. there hostess staff was pleasant. our immediate waiter seemed peeved but the busboy and a fellow waiter was friendly and chatty. food was VERY expensive but it didn't dissapoint-same with drinks. Usually with any type of expensive fare, you end up saying it wasn't "THAT" good...this was not the case. Atmosphere was lively but private. would definitely go back!
