Worst food ever
I went here during restaurant week and from the advertisement outside, I was hoping for a nice plate of beef bourguignon. The place was small, intimate with a nice decor, and reminded me of a special time in Paris. Unfortunately, when I went to place my order, she said they were out and the other choice for the prix fix was also not available. I feel as though it was false advertisement, everything on the special prix-fix menu for restaurant week was not available. So I opted for steak au poivre avec frites. The steak was tough like rubber bands and the fries were the frozen wrinkle cut fries. Horrible, I asked the waitress that I requested for medium rare, the hostess was not happy, she returned with a bloody piece of meat, that was practically raw all the way through! Worst food, worst experience! Don't waste your money!

A perfect brunch every time!
Every time we've come here, the experience has been a happy one! Love the food, love the service. The food is always well prepared and well plated. I have had brunch here several times. The egg omelets (I only eat egg whites) are so delicious that I don't mind missing the yolks. Served with fries or red bliss potatoes and a lovely salad, it's quite a meal. Even though my restricted diet does not allow dairy (at a French bistro?!) I have wonderful choices. The smoked salmon platter served with all the trimmings was perfect even without the cream cheese. My husband loves the coffee and enjoys the French toast with perfectly cooked bacon. I would come here every week just for the selection of fresh and well prepared food and the relaxing atmosphere of a French Cafe.

Terrible Disappointment
Looking forward to this little French cafe experience, my friend and I were truly shocked at the stale bread from lunch, expensive glass of common wine, and filet of sole which was in pieces - not a plump whole filet. Tasteless. Dried and discolored. Tasteless sauce of Julienne vegetables and two little white potato pieces. Unbelievable waste of $45 each.

Great French Cafe
Mon Petit Cafe is my favorite restaurant in the Upper East Side. The french waitresses are so friendly, attentive and genuinely concerned with your dining experience. The crosisants are scrumptious, the coq-au-vin is din-o-mite and the salad nicoise is delicieux! I always feel calm and comfortable in this classic parisien cafe!!

Not what I was hoping for
Sub-par French food, way too expensive for quality. For beginner foodies...

wonderful!
I have been to this restuarant several times and I feel it's better on each visit. I love the menu and feel totally welcome and comfortable when dining here. My only wish is that the place was slightly bigger- popularity has forced me to wait for a table on occassion! I love this gem of a restaurant and hope the misguided few who don't find other places- all the better for me not having to wait with friends!

Something Missing
Small, frayed but pleasant enough decor, polite but spotty service which seems tired after eight o'clock, moderate prices for the neighborhood, but most peculiar food. What sounds like bistro classics are most often overcooked, Americanized and very sweet dishes with many canned or frozen ingredients. Stale bread, ice cold butter, wilted salads and lousy desserts. What a waste of a great location!
