I went there with my husband few days ago, and we ate the omakase and it was fabulous, the presentation, the variety and the freshnes of the fish is amazing. I was so surprize the chef was young, yet so skillfull, and the service is wonderfull and attentive. It was wonderfull night. I"ll be back soon.

I will always go back!!
We actually came about half an hour early and decided to walk around chelsea for a bit. The enviornment that its in is amazing. The waiter came right away to take drink orders and was very respectful. Since sushi is a new food for me I asked the waiter alot of questions about the food and what he suggested was best and he was very patient and everything he suggested was right on. I plan to go back there the next time I'm close. I highly suggest this place.

Great Atmosphere, Decent Food
Randomly came across this place while walking home from the movie theater. It immediately stood out for its beautiful atmosphere, so we decided to give it a try. It was about 9:30 on a Saturday when we went in, and the place was pretty full. We ordered some wine and tried to order several appetizers, but it seemed each one we ordered they were already out of. The same thing happened when we went to order sushi. This was very disappointing, as these were all of the best dishes and fish.. and it wasn't just a couple dishes they were out of.. they were out of a lot! I guess next time we just need to go earlier before they run out. We ended up getting a mushroom soup (bland), miso soup (normal), sardine tempura salad (good, very heavy wasabi dressing - opened my sinuses, for sure), sweet miso black cod (best dish of the night - sweet, creamy), the salmon and mozzarella roll (also very good), and several assorted pieces of sushi. This was just the right amount of food for two people. Overall, it was a pretty good dinner for the price.. and it's worth going for the atmosphere alone.

Nice atmosphere.
I'd bring a date here for the atmosphere, but I wouldn't go here just for the food. It's acceptable and fresh but it's not any better than some of the cheaper sushi places around.

The Best
Momoya is one of the best sushi spots in the city, especially for the price. It is slowly being discovered by the masses. Go earlier and you won't have to wait. It's well worth the wait, though. Outstanding.

Great local japanese
I am no sushi conesuier but i thought that the enitre meal here was excellent. The fish was fresh and had a good consistancy and there was plenty of non-sushi items to keep my raw-fish-phobic boyfriend happy. It was perhaps not the greatest japanese food to be had in the city, but it's a great local place with a very attentive staff and good selection for a great value. What's not to like?

Best sushi in Chelsea
Japanese sushi chefs (sorry Joe above, you don't know what you're talking about) and cool ambience only add to the excellent fresh sushi and innovative menu items like octopus carpaccio to make this the best sushi joint in chelsea.
