    A-nice!!

Ever since i went to japan and noticed all the nice things there i always thought out loud mostly that we can do these things better here as far as food goes on the upper west side of new york city which is really one of the greatest places to dine in the world or at least certainly on this side of the great pond!! enjoy

    Great...for the most part

Just tried delivery from Momoya for the first time. The salmon was tasty and fresh. Miso soup had lots of tofu and spinach and was great. And I love that you can order the rolls with brown rice. Delivery was quick and the packaging was very neat. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the eel (in an eel and cucumber roll). Parts of it had almost a crunchy texture. I don't know if that is how they do their eel or I just got a strange piece, but I didn't care for it at all. I would definitely order from them again, just won't get the eel!

    Love it but . .

Love this place. Food is always yummy, service solid and atmosphere is relaxing. But, the last time I dined there, the shumai (my fav) seemed to be about 25% smaller than usual. I guess I really don't need to eat the extra calories. Recession proofing the dumplings is my thought.

    Highly Recommended

The great thing about Momoya is that both the sushi and the cooked dishes are excellent. The sushi/sashimi combination plate offers a nice variety of fish/shellfish and is a good value considering the quality of the fish. The tempura is very good and is prepared in the authentic Japanese-style. The Chilean Sea Bass is outstanding, especially if you like a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth preparation. Overall, the food is high quality and the dishes are creative without veering too far away from traditional Japanese fare.

    Best on the UWS

The place is beautiful and not loud. It is comfortable and the ambience is great! The service is amazing, helpful and they do not rush you. Food comes out at a good pace and you can actually finish appetizers before the meal comes. There are fun and different appetizers that are all wonderful. The best tempura I have ever had, light and fresh. The fish is amazing, so fresh and flavorful Definitely the best I have had on the UWS.

    Great Food, Poor Service

I have wanted to try this place for awhile and finally went last night. I sat in the back and to say my waiter was rude was an understatement. When I ordered he kept insisting I try something else or order a second piece of whatever sushi I was ordering. If we asked for water, an extra napkin, etc. we were met with a frown as if we were bothering him. When asked if we were finished with our meal and we said yes he promptly (mind you the only time he was quick!) brought us the check never asking if we wanted to dessert. I really enjoyed the food (especially the white tataki and miso cod) but unfortunately would not go back because of the service.

    Just fab!

Momoya serves great quality sashimi, perfectly fresh and cut what a surprise discovery on a block with two other sushi places. While the space doesn't stand out, I'd choose this everytime for a reasonably priced sashimi dinner.
