I would not go back
First off... Everything way way too salty. I found the whole menu bizarre, perhaps I just don't get "it". The service however although very crowded and busy was fantastic!

Momofuku busy buisness
We went to ssam bar at to different occasions, the first time we got the prix fixe menu for 25 dollars, it was amazing ! Everything was of good quality and it just was perfect. The second time we went (3 days later) they had suddenly changed the concept and you had to order from some bar and got your food on a cafeteria tray.. what happened. Messy..very messy. Though I write my review from my first impression (though the food the second time was also good).

Save your money
Its been years since I have been to this restaurant. I remembered that there was something I didn't like about it.. Yes, I was reminded again. You pay too much for small portions. I ordered the fish meal for $20ish plus the scallops apps for $15. The dishes were incredibly small. I was still hungry! Got a pizza slice right after. On top of that, it was very noisy and the seating arrangements were so uncomfortable. I will make sure not to return.

Pretentious, overpriced
Really? With this price point I sit on a stool? It wasn't even intelligent food. It was the kind of hyped out stupidity one could expect from a post-NYU downtown. No thanks. Do not waste your money... time - it doesn't take long to eat at a place designed to turn over chairs in 30 minutes.

Not worth the price
The food was good, but for the price, you can get much better in the city. The atmosphere was lacking. I'd call this place 'hipster pretentious'. They had about 15 servers.... all dressed like bike messengers. When we sat down, the place was fairly empty. Still, we couldn't get someone to take a drink order. All of the servers were too busy talking to each other. It took about 10 minutes to place a drink order. Throughout dinner, they seemed to be most interested in keeping water glasses full. Given how warm it was in the restaurant, that was a good thing. Also, fyi, if you're going for a bday dinner, they will not allow you to put a candle in a piece of cake. They won't even let you put a candle you've brought into a cake. They won't even let you put a candle you've brought into a cake if you don't light it. Weird. Hipster pretentious.

surprised....communal eating!
momofuku used to have amazing pork buns, and a array of good fusion tasty dishes i was dissappointed in the pork buns last night, very chewy, so bad that i only ate one of the two, the pork shoulder had great flavor but was also chewy most disappointing was the set up now because you are forced to eat at a communal table, have to sit accros from each other when i complained to manager after waited 40 minutes for a table that we want to be seated next to each other (and there was room for that next to us he said we would have to wait another 30 minutes. it wasnt even that his attitude was the typical we're busy we dont care what you think very dissapointed to be fair the fried artichoke was good dishes are small expect to spend 60-70 per person w/o alcohol

Loud
The place is a hectic and the portions are small. Some things are tasty but overall an unpleasant and pricey dinner.
