Momiji (CLOSED)

We used to come here like twice a month we live on the same street 72nd.... Atmosphere has always sucked but the fish used to be amazing, Ate dinner there tonight, all you can eat Sushi was like 3x the amount of rice, small slivers of fish and TONS of rice.... so disappointing as this was our go to place for fresh all you can eat sushi and now its a total joke. Will not return under new management, very disappointed and hard to believe we used to love this place!

I used to come here almost weekly when they opened but over the last year they've gone from great to meh to yuck. Last night we had the All You Can Eat and the rice was three times what it used to be! Insane! Plus it no longer makes sense to order a la carte since all those prices have doubled! The chef and waiters all explained it was due to new management (another new change is everyone must order the All You Can Eat or no one can, something I find annoying with a larger group with different desires) but overall it has gone from my "go to" spot to a "never again" place.

Have never written a poor review before, but had to do it after eating here tonight. Made a huge mistake and ordered the all u can eat sushi special. The rice was piled so high on the sushi that it was actually impossible to eat half the normal amount I normally would. Ps you are charged if you do not finish all your rice! I had to put my excess rice (nasty and impossible to eat) into a bag and secretly flush it down the toilet! The fish was no good, the service was subpar, they have the nerve to include an 18 percent tip. Not sure how this restaurant stays in business given the combination of all of the above.

I have been eating at and ordering in from this restaurant for many years. The food quality has plummeted in the last year. Their sushi is not fresh, the cooked Japanese is ill prepared and varies wildly from the menu descriptions, and the Chinese is made with garbage ingredients - there was more fat than meat on the pork I just ordered. My complaints, which I delivered because I felt loyal and I cared, were met with shoulder shrugs and being told that the manager was not available. Though I've been tempted before, I've never actually written a bad restaurant review in my life. This time, I actually feel called to WARN people - stay away! I'll miss the comfy, tucked away bench seating towards the back of the space, but I just can't suffer their lousy food and couldn't-care-less attitude any more. I was a loyal patron, but there at least 4 other restaurants nearby that do it all so much better.

A few years ago this was my favorite UWS Chinese/Japanese place to order from. Over the past couple of years Momiji has changed hands about 3 times and the quality of the food goes downhill each time. I'm disappointed with my last order and won't be ordering from them again.

This place serves really good sushi and sashimi. The fish is fresh and well sized. Delivery is quick and I have never been disappointed. I have never eaten there but am very pleased with the quality of the food when delivered.

I went there tonight, and I've been there before as well. $40 for all-you-can-eat/all-you-can-drink sushi and sake/beer/wine is a fantastic deal, as is $1/piece sashimi. Service is fast and courteous, and the food is tasty. highly recommended!
