Mizu is probably not the best sushi in Manhattan (that is kind of a ridiculous claim), but is excellent grade at a great value. Since Joe left a couple years ago, Rita the new hostess has really done a nice job connecting with her customers and taking care of the regulars. If you are looking for a place to go that is quiet, romantic, or a fine dining experience, don't go to Mizu. You will be disappointed and write one of these poor reviews below. If you are looking to eat and drink in quantity and quality with friends or to celebrate a fun occasion, definitely go to Mizu and sake bomb your face off with the friendly and courteous staff.

This is the best sushi I've had in Manhattan. It melts in your mouth. I've only sat at the sushi bar and the chefs are really friendly and I can't stress how awesome the sushi is. If you're someone like me that really likes amazing pieces of fresh fish, then check it out. I never liked spicy tuna until I had the Mizu version. I'm just about to order delivery now. For the best experience, go to the restaurant, so you can have it right after its been prepared.

The past two times I have eaten at Mizu the fish hasn't been as fresh as it used to be. And, it take over an hour for delivery--where in NYC does it take an hour for delivery? At the very least they should tell you that it will be over an hour BEFORE you place the order. I asked to speak to the manager and she was rude. I miss the good ol' days of Mizu.

I order 1-2 times a week and the sushi is normally really great. They deliver extremely quick but the delivery guys are rude. The place is cute and great for a quick lunch or a nice dinner. Service is ok but the food is worth the attempt.

I agree that the service is so-so. I used to love going to this restaurant when it was not so popular. The host was very sweet and the service was attentive. As it got more popular it is now often over-crowded, noisy, and the new hostess is definately not very friendly. The sushi is amazing but the sudden boom in business has definately cost them some points in my view.

I've been to Mizu several times and have never been disappointed with the service so I don't know what these people are saying. It's great sushi at a reasonable price and a fun atmosphere. Who doesn't love bad pop music with their raw fish? I'd recommend Mizu to anyone!

I was really looking forward to Saturday's dinner at Mizu, but left disappointed. We ordered and shared about 8 special rolls which were all delicious, but generally over-priced. This was after we had to wait over 45 minutes for our table, even though we made a reservation and arrived on time. The hostess was rude the entire time. The service was so-so, but the loud frat-like atmosphere (they hit the gong every time someone wants to do a sake bomb) definitely spoiled the evening. It's too small a place for something like that. I can see how that can be fun for some - but if you're looking for a nice and relaxed evening out with friends - or are on date - I would not go on a weekend evening. Stick to the weekdays - or delivery.
