a west village gem
Miyagi is a lovely neighborhood place, quiet, authentic and not really trying to be anything other than a great place to have a Japanese meal. The staff is professional and the real thing, not trendy and not seeking approval from the private equity crowd that increasingly defines the neighborhood. It is pricey but so are west village rents. I love this place and everyone I bring for dinner is always impressed.

Really!
I ordered from this restaurant because of the reviews I read on this website. It is by far the most disappointing sushi I have ever had in NYC. Whole Foods sushi bar is far superior to this expensive sushi. I will never order from them again, I suggest you heed this warning and save your money.

portion size to be desired
It has been so long I forgot why I don't order in from this place anymore. The sushi is tasty but the portions are less then generous. Actually it is pretty much half the amount you probably get at your other sushi spot.

Good sushi, disappointing entrees
The sushi here is quite good though a bit pricier than most places. The oyako don was not very good - the chicken was overdone. The atmosphere is cute but very relaxed. Not too trendy, nice for a casual sushi meal.

Great local spot!
I live in the neighborhood and always find Miyagi a perfect spot for a low-key, enjoyable evening. Never too crowded, sushi is always fresh and service is nice. Would recommend.

Such subpar food
I am surprised that a simple order of salmon sushi, yellow tail and tuna tasted so fishy. I really could not eat it. So annoying. I ordered delivery, so I cannot say anything about the restaurant. But the food was really subpar. The guy taking my order was very sweet and thorough.

Best Japanese restaurant in town.
Miyagis is always consistent with the quality of their food: the freshest fish and generous quantities of sushi. They have a great selection of udon noodle soups, which are perfect on a rainy or cold day. The staff are warm and welcoming, and prices are very reasonable. Nothing but great things to say.
