Yucky sushi
Dull colored, chewy, lukewarm sushi as part of a dinner box. YUCK! Unevenly cooked shrimp teri. Nope, will not return there.

I love the Miyabi guy
Great sushi, consistently fast delivery, and the man and woman who usually take delivery orders over the phone are always SUPER nice and they remember your name. Love Miyabi.

Excellent Japanese Restaurant
I've been a Miyabi customer since 1976! It was called Cotan then. The owner and the staff are all eager to please. The fish is always very fresh, the portions are satisfying and the prices are reasonable. I love the ambience and the lovely greetings I receive each time I drop in for a quick sashimi dinner!

Pros & Cons
after a minor dinner mishap and being famished, I decided to order delivery. I treated myself to chicken & veg tempura. I have tried other Japanese places in the neighborhood and nothing blew my skirt up if you know what I mean, so tried something close (a block away) and new to me. I was starving so when the guy showed up about 25 min later I was crawling the walls with hunger. I opened the bag to a container of rice, a container of salad, ginger salad dressing, some chopsticks, a menu and two separate appetizer size trays...one with fried veggies and the other with 6 or 7 perfectly matched pieces of chicken. It seems like a decent portion. I get ready to wolf down the food and ahhhh! No tempura sauce! I was so hungry (did I mention that already? lol) that I would have settled for soy sauce but nothing:( I called over and he apologized and about 10 minutes later the guy arrived with only 1 small sauce for a good amount of food. I finally started my meal and I don't really care for the sauce. The good thing is never have I ordered tempura for delivery that ever arrived crunchy. Its usually always soggy so cheers to them for that. It even remained crunchy so I have a feeling they fry first and then bake but whatever they did it was not greasy at all. I probably will order again and ask them to send soy sauce in addition to extra tempura sauce so I can doctor it up. I would have been nice for them to send over a cookie or something as an apology for forgetting the sauce but I'll get over that. I think the fact they actually serve crispy tempura speaks volumes. Its sad that a restaurant preparing the food correctly is so rare but they were spot on. Something very bazaar - there was one maraschino cherry (not fried) in each tray. A strange choice for garnish.

Old Faithful
I have been ordering and/or eating in at Miyabi for almost 4 years now, and I am always very happy. There's a lot to be said for consistency--it certainly makes me a loyal customer!

Christmas
Kit, that's a bummer that you got such a crap meal. But you say that you ordered on 12/26, the day after Christmas. I'd be surprised if the fish markets were open that day, or Christmas, or even the day before. It's possible that you would have gotten substandard sushi anywhere on that date. I continue to get really good stuff from Miyabi so you might give them another chance. But not on Easter day.

Not great takeout
When it first opened, the takeout was great: fresh and tasty. As often happens with the pop-up restaurants that populate the Village, after a couple months the takeout quality takes a plunge. Last night will be my last: pale and mushy salmon sushi, odd-tasting and sweet ikura, average Cali roll. No excuse for that on a Friday night...
