Mmm Mmm good!
Food was on point! I went with my family, so I got to taste their meals as well and everything was good! Well prepared! The fried chicken was seasoned well! The gravy on my rice, excellent!!tasty! last but not least, the collard greens were good!! i love collards and not everyone's collards are good! but these were excellent! I will be returning soon! I know this doesn't have anything to do with this, but spike lee's sister was at the table next to me. lol

Good food; poor service
We order delivery from Mitchell's, but sometimes delivery isn't available. I can't explain why because the people who answer the phone are difficult to understand and come across as sullen. If you can get past the rude/poor phone service to get your order placed, and you're willing to roll the dice on delivery, this place has pretty good food.

Best soul food around
Looks like what we've known for years has been discovered. Mitchell's is the best soul food in Brooklyn. The fried chicken is as good as grandma's and the sides are all authentic and home cooked. Eat in or take out - you can't go wrong.

Worth the drive
I live in Harlem, sadly I have to drive way out to Brooklyn to get the most down home tasting food. Fried chicken is excellent. The prices are reasonable. Mitchell's is worth the drive over the bridge!

Excellent for the Soul
Superb soul food - extremely good sides. All the vegetables were better than in any of the BBQ places in Manhattan. The fried chicken was done perfectly - moist, tasty, with a great batter that was not too thick, not too salty.

The Food in Town
My daughter is in college in New York and I come from South Jersey to go shopping and enjoy the day with her. We normally go Amie Ruths in Harlem for lunch or dinner. I ask her to find another soul food resturant in New York. She went to Yelp a restuant review website and read the review and Mitchell receive excellent reviews. Well we visted the Mitchell and the food was excellent and on the money. I had the fish dinner and my daughter had the shrimp dinner. The fish and shrimp was fresh not frozen which make a big differnce. the cabbage, potatoes salad, collard greens tremdous. the only thing will did not like was the corn bread. the atmosphere was not in tip top condition but we didn't care . the food was excellent. If you been to amie ruth and sylvia try this resutrant you will not be disappointed. I have a found a new soul food resturant to come to every time i visit new york

Brooklyn's Southern Gem
Mitchell's is one of the best Southern restaurants in NYC. It really doesn't get much better than this. The atmosphere is very homey. The decor is less than appealing. However, the people there are sincerely nice and pleasant. I come in from Manhattan at least once a week just to take-out one of there amazing entrees. This is all that I ask for in life, a restaurant that acknowledges that you are there for good food, and gives it to you in a very big way at small prices.
