Amazing Food, Poor Service
Despite the service my friend and I received during my first visit the food was delicious enough to lure me back 2 more times. The fried chicken, mac & cheese, cornbread dressing, and the greens are the best i've had in NYC. However, the service was consistently poor with each visit... very poor. The third time I visited the location on 110 and the service was even worse. I recommend take-out.

1st time there-Delicious soul food!!!
I was in the area on 1/23/08 and wanted to try out this restaurant since I had read the reviews in different magazines. The place is quaint, small, and clean. My husband and I both had the lunch specials which was 2 pieces of fried chicken w/one side. I got the mac and cheese(which was delicious!!!) and my husband got the fresh hand cut fries. We were given complimentary cornbread that was very good. The fried chicken was a bit on the small side, but again it was lunch and it was very tasty and had a lil kick to it and it was moist too and crunchy and crispy on the outside. For take out I got a piece of red velvet cake. Which I had half already and it was good also. The service was good. the waitress was attentive and quick. I would definitely go back there for lunch or dinner. The prices were reasonable. The lunch specials were about $8 and the dinner entrees are about $12-16.

Heaven in Harlem
Being African American I eat soul food that's cooked from scratch often so I don't normally find anything so wonderful about soul food places. Miss Maude is now like a new Aunty to me. I am starting a cleanse tomorrow and wanted to taste wonderful food one last time. All I can say is if I knew the food was going to be this good I wouldn't have waited to get in the house. My order was a pick up sonce I wanted to enjoy my last meal at home. It was surprisingly empty inside, the girl who took my order was extremely pleasant. I ordered the ribs with stuffing and yams. The stuffing tasted like it was right out of the turkey and came with gravy. This Southern girl is in heaven. Going past 125 was definitely worth it.

Patience is a virture
I live in the area so I was more than anxious to try a local spot. Although the food is good, the service is horrible, horrible, horrible. I had oxtails (more bones than meat), of course I complained, but.... A friend had chicken, it was good. For dessert, the cake was OLD and dry. Tried it again a few days later, different type still old and dry. I gave them more than a few trys, especially with take out, they were still slow. One good thing, the food is always hot, and tasty, just don't be in a hurry and definitely don't have the cake.

The Bombdiggity! Highly recommended!
The food is amazing! I can honestly say I haven't had anything bad from there, except maybe the gumbo but I would be willing to give that another try. And I will admit that I'm especially picky about gumbo since I'm from the Gulf Coast and grew up on it. The chicken, amazing! Collards, seconds please! Mac and cheese will put a smile on your face. And of course their desserts are great! I love this place and would recommend it to anyone. The portions are more than enough for one person, which is good since you are paying around $13 dollars a plate. How lucky am I to live only a block away from Miss Maude's!

Good Home Cooking
Although the service is ridiculously slow - stick around because the food is divine. This was the first place I tried when I moved to Harlem and remains one of my favorites. The mac 'n cheese is a must have. Kudos to "Miss Maude."
