    Overpriced food and poor service

My husband and I are from Tennessee and Texas. We were both excited to have Southern food at Miss Mamie's. We ordered take out. The food portions were not comparable to what one would be served in restaurant. We paid $3 bucks for sweet tea to go and it was 8oz....amazing tea but we felt ripped off by the size. We ordered the bbq chicken and fried chicken. The bbq chicken was alright but wasn't the best we'd had and the fried chicken was dry. Our order was messed up and we didn't get any bread. Very poor service and overpriced food. We will NOT eat there again. I would rather go to the trouble of making homecooked Southern food myself.

    Good neighborhood restaurant

From the moment you walk into the restaurant, you get a relaxed vibe from the decor to the other patrons enjoying their meals. This place always has families or groups of friends enjoying the good company and good food. I'm especially a fan of the fried chicken which is a perfect combination of crispness on the outside and moist flavorful meat on the inside. The greens are tasty and not too salty like in some other places and the mac and cheese is a must. My husband is a fan of the barbeque chicken and meatloaf. You also can't leave without trying the banana pudding. Service is friendly but can be a little faster. However, this restaurant is a real treasure in the ever gentrifying Morningside Heights neighborhood.

    No thanks

I felt the prices were too high... the quality of food was not that good and the amount they give you isn't as much as I wanted..

I've been to this restaurant a few times and it's okay. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired (it pretty much looks like a diner). And the food is okay, but at the price it's not terrible. The oxtail, however, is fantastic and the cornbread is not bad. For better soul fool and atmosphere, you'd be better off a little further uptown

    Poor service

Poor service plain and simple. When we came into the restaurant, they didn't acknowledge us for several minutes. They let us wait wondering if we will be seated at all. I have seen people walk out after a while. The waitresses are slow from the time they seat you, to the time they give you your check. They look unhappy working there including the cashier lady. They have only one waiter and unfortunately the only one who is helpful and friendly. Too bad because the ribs are pretty good.

The restaurant has a cute homey feel. The food was above average. I had the sampler plate the fried chicken was excellent the ribs were not real smoked barbeque ribs and could have been more tender. The catfish was excellent and the beef short rib was also good. The collard greens were a little dry but the Mac & Cheese was very good as well as the yams. The service was very poor. This restaurant has a lot of potential but needs a little work when it comes to good customer service. The food was not too salty but seasoned well. I would visit this establish again when in NYC but hope that they get it together with the service.
