Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere

I'm not sure what other people are referring to when they talk about lousy service. I've been here 3 times and never had an issue. The food is delicious from the lemon butter trout to the collard greens. And perfect sweet tea! The prices are reasonable for the delicious and huge portions. I am always satisfied with my experience here.

    Tasty Food, great Service

I can't agree to the previous ratings. Have been at Miss Mamie's for dine in yesterday. The waitress was very friendly but not intrusive (like at many other locations). The food came real fast and portions had an enjoyable size. And it was really YUMMY!!! I will come back...

    Good food, poor service

I agree with most of the reviews below that say the same thing. I've both ordered delivery and dined in. Basically, the food is good if you're willing to wait, risk the possibility of some of your dishes not showing up even though it is listed in the bill, and deal servers or people on the phone who seem annoyed that you're giving them business in the first place. The person who actually delivers is generally friendly though.

Head further uptown for good service

I've been ordering from and going to this restaurant for more than 10 years and while the food has always been good, the service has always been atrocious. It doesn't matter if you eat in or take out - you're going to wait. I've waited on the phone, in the restaurant while sitting at a table and standing at the counter for take out. Miss Mamie's Spoonbread motto must be - "Wait for it." It wouldn't be so bad waiting if they were at all apologetic - but there is no remorse for making their patrons wait - in fact there's often some attitude. But never fear! The same great food can be had without the attitude and the wait by heading uptown to Miss Maude's Spoonbread Too on Lenox between 137th and 138th. One night after being put on hold twice when calling Miss Mamie's I called Miss Maude's. My order was taken quickly and politely and by the time I got there, my food was ready to go. I've since made the trip uptown a number of times to eat in and for take-out and it's always the same great food as on 110th Street but with MUCH, MUCH better service.

    Pretty darn good

I gotta admit that the 1st time we tried food from here, we weren't thrilled - we thought the food was decent but overpriced for the portions you get. But we came back to give it another shot & had a really enjoyable meal! 1st off, the strawberry lemonade, recommended by our waiter, was HEAVENLY! The ribs, wings & sides were all delicious. Friendly waiter. I think eating in & being there is part of the charm as it's cozy w/ a great vibe (that 1st time when we were not blown away, we got food to-go). Prices are fair though still not dirt-cheap & still for moderate (rather than huge) portions. But I'd certainly come back!

    Yummy Soul Food

I am a native NYer (but new to Harlem) and I love this place. It's one of the first places I discovered when I moved here. Now, I've never had soul food in the South but am a big foodie and I am very pleased with the food. The service varies - some waiters are good, some don't even refill your water unless you chase them down. Sometimes the girls at the counter have a bit of attitude, but sometimes they're nice. That's the only gripe I have with this place. It's also a bit on the pricey side, but comes with a lot of food, so it's not too bad.

    Returning after Long Absence

We have lived in the neighborhood for over 6 years. One of the first places we ate was Miss Mamies, to our delight it was fabulous. After a few years of boycotting due to it becoming a nightmare delivery was not consistent, food too salty and subpar, and not anywhere near what we were used to. The worst part was the service and we were on first name basis with most of the staff. It just was not worth it. I was craving fried chicken and decided to take a chance and I am happy to say that the food was good, hot and delivered quickly. The woman answering the phone was pleasant and accommodating. I hope that it stays this way... we will be giving them another chance to make sure this was not a fluke.
