    Gem of the Neighborhood

The food was great and as someone who is well versed in Soul Food it is not common to find some real Southern cooking above the Mason Dixon. The atmosphere and service blended together in this wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Definitely will be returning and taking family and friends with me!

    Not that great

I ordered the other day and the greens were bland and I'm n love with black eyed peas but theirs are bland and hard! Over all not impressed! The red velvet cake is great!!

Best Collard Greens and Fried Chicken

I've had collard greens before, but it's always been overly salty/sweet. This was just right. The fried chicken was also nicely seasoned, and not greasy at all. Better than Rack and Soul, and better than Syvia's. And, they give you a nice drumstick and breast. Portions are great value. Service was great. When I mentioned to the waitress that it was the best collard greens, she gave me a container to take home, for free!

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere

I'm not sure what other people are referring to when they talk about lousy service. I've been here 3 times and never had an issue. The food is delicious from the lemon butter trout to the collard greens. And perfect sweet tea! The prices are reasonable for the delicious and huge portions. I am always satisfied with my experience here.

    Tasty Food, great Service

I can't agree to the previous ratings. Have been at Miss Mamie's for dine in yesterday. The waitress was very friendly but not intrusive (like at many other locations). The food came real fast and portions had an enjoyable size. And it was really YUMMY!!! I will come back...

    Good food, poor service

I agree with most of the reviews below that say the same thing. I've both ordered delivery and dined in. Basically, the food is good if you're willing to wait, risk the possibility of some of your dishes not showing up even though it is listed in the bill, and deal servers or people on the phone who seem annoyed that you're giving them business in the first place. The person who actually delivers is generally friendly though.

Head further uptown for good service

I've been ordering from and going to this restaurant for more than 10 years and while the food has always been good, the service has always been atrocious. It doesn't matter if you eat in or take out - you're going to wait. I've waited on the phone, in the restaurant while sitting at a table and standing at the counter for take out. Miss Mamie's Spoonbread motto must be - "Wait for it." It wouldn't be so bad waiting if they were at all apologetic - but there is no remorse for making their patrons wait - in fact there's often some attitude. But never fear! The same great food can be had without the attitude and the wait by heading uptown to Miss Maude's Spoonbread Too on Lenox between 137th and 138th. One night after being put on hold twice when calling Miss Mamie's I called Miss Maude's. My order was taken quickly and politely and by the time I got there, my food was ready to go. I've since made the trip uptown a number of times to eat in and for take-out and it's always the same great food as on 110th Street but with MUCH, MUCH better service.
