Fortunately I went on an off hour and just waited a few moments for a seat at lunch. The menu is pricey - I was shocked to see that pickles were extra - and a $1.50 for a piece. I just got the smoked meat sandwich and the coleslaw. The sandwich is pretty tiny in comparison to Katz's (and Katz's give free pickles) but the cost is less here. The meat was tender but the smoked taste was very very strong and overwhelming. The coleslaw was a vinegar slaw. It was fresh but again it was overpowered by the vinegar. Next time - I will just get to Katz's as its tastier and in the long run- cheaper since one sandwich actually turns in to two meals at Katz's!

I know there will be a wait when I go there but it is completely worth it. This place is my favorite in the neighborhood!

Those complaining about the wait seem to forget that weekend brunch is always a pain at popular restaurants. Try going before 11 AM or simply go for dinner on a week night. They do a really good open faced chicken sandwich at night. In general, the service and warm atmosphere here are pretty impressive considering the line of people waiting outside. And I can't say I've ever had a cold, dry meat sandwich here, like some reviewers claim--methinks they were the ones who were high.

I've been following all the hype and am content to discover that it's well-earned and deserved. Even after all these months. The smoked meat and smoked meat burger and classic poutine are absolutely perfect. Ambience and music carefully curated by a staff that was friendly, attentive and even over-apologetic during a brunch rush that understandably warrants a certain level of wait-time with a line of (attractive) customers about 15-people waiting anxiously outside. Brunch was nearly perfect justifying my return for dinner. The Poulet Chaud was stunningly executed. Classic Poutine, yet again - and clearly the best frites I've tried in the area. I'll certainly be returning with friends to share the wealth - and get my weekly fixed of cured smoked meat.

I went to this place after seeing a rave review on TV and what a bust They were out of the poutin which I specifically was intested in trying and the smoked meat sandwich was truly a disaster. The sandwich was rediculously small and the meat was grissly and tough and sliced too thick. I wonder what they did to get such a great review but it was a severe disappointment. I drove all the way from Manhattan and I am mad!!

The food here is tasty. I had the poutine and lox on a bagel. However, when it was all said and done with tax and tip, it was about $26. Way too much to pay for the small portions they give.

The smoked meat was cold and chewy. There was no flavor as well, other than the pepper taste. The Pickles were waspy midwestern pickles, which seem irrational in Brooklyn given the availability of fantastic pickles true to New york that should have been used. The Matzo Ball soup was decent, but for expensive and came in a small cup. The food is not the reason you come here, its more of an L.A. Vibe, although even L.A. has Cantors!
