    great suprise

ive been eating kosher for only 3 months now and lets just say that its been rough out there. I went to dinner with my wife and 2 others last wednesday and what can i say, Mikes Bistro makes me feel like I havent sacrificed a thing. The food and service were really top notch. the Tuna was probably the best i have ever had and the gnocchi was really mouth watering. I cant wait to return.

    Not much for mega bucks!

We eat out every week. Up until recently, we had not tried Mike's Bistro. Unfortunately, we made the mistake, at the suggestion of a friend to try it. Food was not good. The service was even worse. We do not appreciate paying such high prices to be treated like second class citizens. We will not be returning.

    average

I was at Mikes last night and was quite disappointed. The Lamb came out barely cooked and the Tuna was also barely cooked when we asked for medium. It was strange that a place that charges over $40 for a piece of Tuna and almost $60! for a piece of lamb doesnt even cook it properly. The Maybe the problem is that the owner/chef spends all his time in the dining room instead of in the kitchen!

    not good

I went to the restaurant with my family last night. I know the chef and was very let down with everything. The meat was not prepared correctly very upset about that. We ordered medium steaks and they came well done. We had to wait 20 minutes for the replacement. That is unacceptable. The Lamp Shank was flavorless and bland. The fish was over done as well and the flavor was nowhere to be found. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. This is some of the worst kosher I’ve had in NYC.

    Bad Form

So the food was actually very good, but my party showed up 20 minutes late and was told about it on no less than 4 separate occasions throughout the meal - the first instance coming when the waiter brought over our menus and told us to order quickly and culminating with the chef himself basically kicking us out (after a not unreasonable amount of time for the large party we were) while we were enjoying our expensive dessert drinks. Not that the service or food was brought out so quickly during the meal, which might have actually moved us along more naturally. I have never been treated like that at the many NYC restaurants I have frequented that are better than this one.

    Brilliant!!

I took my girlfriend here for Valentine's Day not knowing anything about it besides reviews. We both keep kosher so this was ideal. I must say that I was completely impressed as we dined for almost 3 hours! We ordered the 7 course tasting menu which I highly recommend for anybody and each course was better than the last. Each time a new course came out, the waitress explained what it was and the significance as to why they chose that meal. Our courses were creamy split pea soup (amazing), salad with "bacon" (delicious), duck/chicken confit/homemade gnochhi (this apparently is their signiture dish and was OUT OF THIS WORLD, quite possibly the best meal I've ever had), codfish with breadcrums, "spaghetti" and lamb/veal/beef meatball, angus steak (wow), and desert. To describe every meal here would do no justice to the divine taste, but the desert was pure melted chocolate where you could dip fruits, marshmallows, etc. and sorbet - and the steak was as good as prime grill quality. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to all jews (and non-jews). All I know is that when I go to nicer restaurants with my friends and i see a tasting menu with food I cannot eat, I do get a little jealous..Next time I will take them here. I love this place and will go back as often as possible. the waitress was very attentive and i cannot say enough about the quality of food
