Spotty food.
Mi tierra is very inconsistent. I used to live in the area and would get food from them fairly frequently. I don't really care for Caridad the other nearby Dominican place so I would often go here to satisfy my Dominican food cravings. When they are on they can make a mean meat or chicken stew here but they can also totally screw it up by putting too much salt on the food or serving old rice. This place is nowhere near as busy as Caridad where I can understand the inconsistency more. Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting 5 star cuisine but Dominican food is in essence simple and I would like to see the quality of the food be more consistent.

Dry Chicken
I just ordered delivery from Mi Tierra. I am desperate to find some good delivery in the Hamilton Heights, Sugar Hill Neighborhood. I read that this chicken is good. I cannot believe what a dried-out piece of chicken I was sent! It was so over cooked and obviously has been sitting around. No juicy pieces. I got a huge container of rice with beans in it and then a side of red beans, but the value is wasted when the chicken is subpar

A good place in the Heights
This is a jewel for the neighborhood, being that fast food places are the norm here. The food, especially the chicken and rice, is such a value and so good I would often have to stop myself from buying it 7 nights a week. The cafe con leche rocks, and goes well with any course...besides its the restaraunt where at 8 AM they are playing music at full ear-shattering volume, waking you up faster then any coffee ever could. Try the bacon and egg sandwich too, it'll knock your socks off. Sometimes you have to make yourself known to the waitstaff, or they just might ignore you...and they can when the food is this good.

The best chicken and rice in the City
I am not from the city, but whenever I come to New York, I have to stop at Mi Tierra's. Excellent food! On one trip to New York, I brought a friend some of the chicken and rice home to taste, he loved it and was instantly hooked. Now, whenever he's there, he makes a stop at Mi Tierras'. The atmosphere is good, great music playing, friendly staff. The chicken is cooked to perfection, it melts in your mouth.
