Focus
Ok, so if you can meander through the NYC Sanitation people shoving their faces with gabagul and meatball calzones and the high school diva's cracking their gum and dudding out their Newport Lights in front of Mezza Luna – then you’ll enter a world most commonly referred to as Messa Luna and you won't be disappointed. Tucked away on the bustling streets of 8th lives Mezza Luna - from the outside it appears to be your standard NYC pizzeria. Once inside however, all bets are off - the men behind the counter are working at a pace that only a city like New York can demand (these men btw, I don’t believe are true Italians - thinking maybe Greek, Mexican, possibly some Croats sprinkled in) have mastered the art of replicating a true Italian lunch cuisine fit for the Bobby Bacala’s of the world. The prices are more than reasonable and there is not a doubt in my stomach that you’ll walk away with a full stomach and perhaps a little bit of gas, but its well worth it (lunch special is 2 slices and a fountain soda for $5 bucks). My buddy from work, we'll just call him , hmm I don’t know, DK for the sake of this review, turned me on to this place and I haven't looked back - the chicken parm is top 10 in NYC - get involved people, get involved...

Thanks MenuPages!
Thanks to this site, i ventured out of my cube one day and picked up some lunch from Frank & Sal's. I dunno if it makes a difference but I call ahead and my order is always ready in about 5 minutes (even during the busy lunch hours). They actually listen when you have special requests! Case in point, i have severe acid reflux and i shouldn't have very much tomato sauce.. they're always great about going super easy on the sauce when I ask, and they've never forgotten any part of my order. I've never actually eaten on the premises, so i have no real review of that, but what i can tell you is that their prices are very affordable, you get a lot of food for your money, and even though there's often a small line at the pizza counter .. it's worth waiting a little bit. I get lunch from here at least once a week and in closing -- if you live, work or visit this area, check out Frank & Sal's.. your tummy will thank you.

Just like your pizza man used to make
I think that the title says it all. Pizza that's consistently good and well-priced. and it's not fancy-schmancy thin crust or blah blah blah. It's the comfort food of the comfort food set.

Best Value Pizza I've Found in NYC
This place has excellent, cheap slices. I especially like the sicilian -- lots of bread, cheese, and tomato sauce, the way it oughta be! Service is efficient and friendly, and atmosphere is standard NYC pizza joint, except they often play a radio so you have something to listen to if you eat in. I eat here twice a week pretty much every week, and have yet to regret it. Definitely one of NYC's best pizza finds, in my opinion.
