Who puts potatoes in a burrito? Why jam hunks of relatively tasteless starch into a dish that should be full of flavor? Good questions. Even with the wasted calories of the potatoes, the burrito is on the small side, especially for the $12 price. Another question: Why slice a burrito into five pieces and lay them flat on the plate? It was dry to begin with (thanks again to the potatoes), but this only made it more so. Chipotle has a better, bigger burrito at about half the price with ingredients of no less quality. This place is solidly mediocre and slightly overpriced, but there continues to be a market for sterile Mexican food in the city. Apparently, a restaurant can get by with a cute name that attracts locals who can tie up their yapping little dogs in sweaters right outside on the sidewalk before going home to write reviews full of words like "yummy" and "amazing".

No half baked food, no have a waitress' attention. Give me all the flavor I need, and at the same time, add a new dimension. Half of nothing is no good, give all to me. And Mexicana Mama does. I had a sampling of salsa (the daily special, cruda, and a smoky chipotle) and they were delicious. I also had Enchiladas in a Mole sauce and a few Margs. The food was excellent but the Margs were very, very weak. And I can stand it - I am strong that way. I wand to say Ole when the food arrived. It's a tiny but cute space, so be prepared to wait. Recommended.

as intense as I do for the enchilada suiza. And that goes for everything else on the menu as well. To say this is the best mexican food in Manhattan is an understatement. Mexicana Mama is quite possibly the best mexican food I've ever had- ANYWHERE. Just as fantastic is the service. If you are lucky enough to have Morgan as your server it will surely complete the experience. I have also never been disappointed by their delivery. No need to try any other mexican food- this place has it all.

I was once the biggest fan of Mexicana Mama and was terribly disappointed tonight in my return. The guac had very little flavor and the chips were actually stale. This was once I thought one of the freshest, healthiest tasting Mexican places but even my tortilla shells were greasy tonight. Very disappointing and saddening.

I love ordering take-out from Mexicana Mama!! The burittos are great and the salad very, very nice. Ask for the specials - sometimes there is a good steak. Overall a good value in my view. And very consistent - never had a bad meal...staff quite friendly

the first thing you will notice is how small this place can be for a restaurant! there are only about five tables! i had to wait about an hour on a thursday night when they told me 20 minutes. the food was good, fresh, exotic and unique. however, it is not something i would crave and go back to for the price i had to pay. the portions were also very small. i do have to complement the service. it was excellent. the waiter explained everything and really knew what they were talking about. they gave a lot of suggestions. attentiveness by the staff was great! i dont know if i would come back..maybe for the guacomole or if im craving something different.

I have never been let down.The burritos are the best at the restaurant and for delivery.Don't get the enchilada roja for delivery.The fish special is always great even for delivery.Always get the special salsa it is a must.The service is ok the staff could use some personality
