Teribad
So bad that I had to coin a new term. It's expensive, slow, poor quality and bland. Not really any point in expounding on this. Order at your own risk.

Waste of time and money
Deeply average and overpriced. flavorless waste of money. I can make better mexican food than this - and I am german.

Sucks for Vegetarians
I read a couple good reviews so I gave it a try. I was shocked when I tried my veggie enchaladas to find a frozen vegetable mix and I paid $7.50 for it. Never again!

mediocrity
I'm on a quest to find a replacement for the suddenly closed Mezcal which I frequented approx. once a week. When I walked into Mexicali at 7:30 on a Thursday evening, there were just 3 tables of diners: 2 tables of senior citizens and a woman dining alone. The lighting and atmosphere were depressing and I immediately regretted entering. The vegetarian burritos I ordered were filled with frozen vegetables. I ate at this restaurant when I first moved to this neighborhood in the 80's and was unimpressed. I thought I'd give it another try after all these years. I will not be back.

This is Tex/Mex
I've been living in NYC for over two years, and I'd basically given up on finding good Tex/Mex in this town. I wound up in Mexicali pretty much as a last resort one night, and it was like a revelation. If you're a foodie looking for something shi-shi and artistic, keep walking. What this is is good, old-fashioned, down-hacienda comfort food like I used to love it back home in Texas. And the mango margaritas have a kick like un burro loco, tambien.

shrimp chimichangas rule
i've been reading and hearing about the the shrimp chimichanga a la caserola for over a year now, so i decided just before the new year to finally taste what all the fuss is about. well now i understand. i've been back three times always ordering the same thing since i refuse to be deprived of nirvana. the staff is very friendly by the way. and even if they weren't, i wouldn't care. as long as they keep serving the shrimp chimichanga.

portion size left much to be desired
I had the super nachos... there was nothing super about them. It was tasty but nothing special and the portion size was 1/5 of what I was expecting. I also had the chicken fajita... only 2 tortilla wraps? The chicken was also season'ed strangely. I think they were trying to do something fancy with a simple dish and it flopped. I will not be ordering from them again.
