On a recent visit to your restaurant, my coworkers and I experienced poor service. We have ever received thus far. Before I go into detail, I will say that we did visit your Restaurant location at 45 west 35th street frequently (sometimes twice a week) and Have received similar service at times. On Wednesday July 15th,2009 my coworkers and I arrived at your w 35th street location Around 1:45pm for our one hour lunch break, we were seated promptly and given menus. Some of us were not sure of what we wanted and asked for a few minutes more. When we Were ready to order (around 7 minutes later) we attempted to catch the attention of the Waitress who was attending to our table but it was a bit hard seeing that it seemed she Was trying to avoid any eye contact, but we eventually did. Our order I believe was quite simple and should have taken a small amount of time to complete. I order the Pre Fixe menu which consisted of Caesar salad as an appetizer, Salmon with white rice and Julienne Vegetables as the main course and Chocolate mousse cake as the dessert. My coworkers ordered an Arugula Salad And Metro Burger with fries as the side. We also order Calamari as an appetizer. We ordered only water to drink and we had requested straws (which we never received) and lemon which we had to request twice. A short time afterward we received the appetizers and proceeded to dine. Moments passed and we Began to grow anxious because time was passing but we were not receiving our main courses. We noticed other individuals that came in afterward were receiving their meals in a timely fashion. The time was now approaching 2:25pm and we knew we would have to be back to our office soon, we Again tried to get the attention of our server but it was a bit impossible to do so. As 2:35 approached My coworkers and I decided to leave because it looked as though our food was not coming anytime soon. Because we did receive our appetizers I proceeded to pay for them only. As we rose to leave, your hostess was very upset and told me that the food was ready now and they are wrapping it for us to take away. I was very upset and felt appalled at her reaction, if we wanted to eat lunch at our desks in the office we Would have done so, but it is not appropriate for her to suggest that as an option because it is not something That we are allowed to do.

We stayed at the Metro Hotel - connected to the Metro Grill. One night we were a little hungry late at night. We called down for a quesidilla. They happily brought it to our room, and it was fantastic. Homemade salsa was great - a little citus flavor and a little spicy. Loved it all. Very Satisfied!!

Dear sweet: it is unacceptable for a server to be "rude," however in most new york restaurants the server's job IS to take orders, explain the menu and oversee the process. Those who you so lovingly refer to as "the people who clean around you" are the bussers. They are instrumental in your dining experience, their job is to maintain the table and refill your water and keep the place running in other ways you would never notice, for example restocking silverware / polishing it et. al. . . the person who delivered your food was most likely a food runner, that is their job. As for gratuity, if it is added it is merely suggested, most of the time, you may discuss the gratuity with a manager if you feel that it is not appropriate. As it is the job of the waiter to oversee the process and ensure that their support staff ie. bussers and runners are doing their job done, it is the responsibility of the manager to supervise all aspects of the restaurant, from the kitchen / food, to seating, and the attitude of their waitstaff. in the future if you feel you were given bad service and are uncomfortable with being charged a gratuity i would suggest you ask for the manager, delicately explain your issues and give them the check with your appropriately deemed gratuity. Most managers / owners would greatly appreciate hearing your feedback, provided that it is presented in an intelligent manner. Their job is to weed out the servers who are not representing the establishment properly, which may be the case. If the waiter truly is horrible, no one wants them there, surely a chef would not like to here that someone is representing them (their food) poorly, nor would any owner. In the event that a server is terrible the rest of the staff is forced to pick up their slack, sometimes it is just a matter of time until the manager finds out and has the opportunity to dismiss the individual (which is why these experiences need to be conveyed to those who care.)

We were welcomed by a warming welcome and were seated right away. We ordered a cocktail and our appetizer! Fried Calamari with Ginger Sauce. What flavor! Fresh, tender calamari and this dish was enough for us to Share. We each odered Seafood. The Diver Scallops were delicious with the Lobster Mash. I had the blackened Mahi Mahi with Grilled asparagus and shrimp salsa. I enjoyed every bite. Large portions and the price was great.

My co-workers took me to this place for drinks and appetizers. To begin the waiter was rude, and for drinks and appetizers the bill came out to $230, $30 was for 18% gratuity...just to have a waiter bringing drinks, because the people that cleaned around were the ones who brought the appetizers. Not worth it.

Ate here a few times over the course of a work assignment nearby. The only constant was the bartender and a few lushes always hanging around the bar like they own it. The food goes from strange and good to -- why am I bothering to eat this stuff? Next time I'll go elsewhere
