The service is very fast and efficient here. I had the omelette, which they forgot to add an ingredient and was pretty flat (I like them fluffy) but not greasy at all! Overall a good diner.

I have been going to Metro for over three years. I LOVE IT. It is a diner. It is not a chic Tribeca hot spot. However, as diners go -- it is way ahead of the pack. Despite it being a neighborhood staple, the menu has not lost its edge. I still wonder how they do so many dishes so well. The atmosphere is so classic and the staff is fantastic. They remember my huband and I when we come in...that is sayiing alot considering the sheer number of people that eat there everyday. It is a place of community and comfort in a city that is often less than that. My favorite things on the menu: french toast and bacon, chicken quesadilla, meatloaf, tuna salad, and turkey burgers. When they have it, the chicken pot pie is fantastic. As for heathly options -- the side salad is wonderful and is a portion that actually entree salad sized. Go to Metro once...you will go back a million times.

Come in any time of the day or night for an old-fashioned New York "Greek diner" experience. A friendly, high-energy wait staff that definitely remembers regulars (and their favorite dishes, too!) Be sure to ask for the Chicken Souvlaki WELL DONE for an extra taste treat...and don't miss the broccoli and cheddar omelette. Portions are hearty, the coffee flows generously, and the atmosphere is always welcoming.

$20+/- plus tip for breakfast. for 2. Unlimited coffee (note: the wait staff keeps it topped off) great service. Omelette's and hash browns are unbelievable. Toast just right. Great orange juice.Food is delivered as soon as it is done cooking. Cereal is available as well as a big cold display case of desserts. No real crowd around 8 or 9am weekdays. Head waiter a bit on the strong side but pleasant. All I can say is this: bring a empty stomach and a couple of $20's and be prepared for a feast with a bit of a view.

This is a 'fancy' diner, not a dive diner. the food is good, but don't expect diver diner food. it's fancy. fritatta's (8bucks) $9 bagels and burgers with roquefort... not complaining though, it's a good diner, but expect to spend more than at your typical diner. everything is good, the chicken souvlaki is great & very big. very good bran muffins & i love the lemon cocnut cake, never had one like it. they seat you very quickly even if there is a long line.

Their meatloaf is the best I've tasted-- and the mashed potatoes are real! With lumps of potato in them. Delivery was pretty fast.

I have been going to Metro Diner for over a year now and have had very positive experiences. The food is really great, and even if you are a vegetarian like myself there is plenty of variety. The staff I have encountered there are friendly and like to chat with customers, I find this to be very rare in New York- which many times unfortunately is NOT a friendly city. So it is refreshing to find a place where that stereotype is not applicable! Also- their delivery seems to be much quicker than other restaurants in the area.
