I ordered the "Field of Dreams Salad" and it was served with dark chocolate chips, canned salmon with a clear jelly and mushy blueberries. It tasted and smelled like a "field of nightmares". My milkshake tasted and smelled like refrigerator water complete with white, translucent refrigerator icicles.

Ordered a grilled chicken salad from this restaurant tonight and the chicken was inedible! the food quality has gone right downhill. Who can ruin grilled chicken?

Went in just to grab a piece of carrot cake to go. Upon entering, the host rudely directed me to the counter. Then upon paying, the girl didn't even tell me my total. She just entered the price then stared at me. So I looked at the register to see how much it was. I paid, said thank you, and she just stared blankly at me. Even worse, the carrot cake was 90% icing, and whatever crumbs they call carrot cake were stale and dry.

As a native NYer, I've been to many a diner in my day! I'm currently a resident of the Upper West Side of Manhattan & I have to say that The Metro Diner is by far the best diner in New York City, hands-down! Sure, it's a little more $ for the same things you'd get in other places, however, the food quality here is superior. Combine the good food with the quick, efficient & friendly "neighborhoody" service...and you've got a winner! Two thumbs up for The Metro Diner!!!

Great place for families. But the kid-friendliness doesn't seem to inconvenience the non-breeders a bit. So don't let the strollers scare you! They are busy pretty much all day, 7 days a week for a reason. Seriously, it's diner food done really well, with a wider range of menu items than you normally find. When we order something new we kind of assume it'll be good because things usually are. Yes, the price is a bit higher than other diner-type places, but I'm happy to spend the extra for food this good. And the service is typical of NY joints at this price point. I'm not enough of a snob to get my knickers in a bunch if I have to wait a few minutes to get the check. People who complain about the service in this place either experienced an aberration, or just plain take themselves too seriously. It's a diner, people!

I'm from Germany and I was in this Diner just because my hostel was near by. And it was the best decision. The food was so good, but way to much for a German stomach. I'm looking forward to eat there again!
