A waste of time and money
I don't want to blow bubbles here but really, this has to be one of the worst diner eating experiences in my entire life. First, the waitress was so inattentive...it took 35-min. for a hamburger...and when I asked where the cheese was (yes, I ordered a cheeseburger) she said she could get me a slice. We couldn't wait to get out of this place as the burger turned out to be a 1/4 pd of raw meat. When the cashier asked how was the food...I told her the food was barely edible. She said, 'Well, it is a Greek diner you know'...Yeesh!

Great neighborhood diner
Outstanding neighborhood diner. Wide choices, food is consistently good - - I've eaten there about twice/week for the last four years and have only returned one or two meals. Service is generally good, but depends on waiter and day & time. Mario is most professional and friendly. Alex behind the counter is a master during busy Sat & Sundays 10AM - 2PM - - thebusier it gets, the better he performs and the more he thrives! Prices have been raised, but it's Manhattan. The cheapo places several blocks away (96th or 102nd) are of much lower quality based on variety of choices, quality of dishes, freshness of food, level of service, ambience of the restaurant. You get what you pay for. VERY family friendly, yet few instances of wild screaming kids ruining your meal. Very acceptable place for a business breakfast or lunch. Overall, a very steady choice.

Great Diner
This place is well worth the extra money. The food is great and the portions are plentiful. We keep coming back!

time to take metro diner off the list
we live in the neighborhood, and when it opened 10+ years ago it was a treat to eat here, because there were fewer choices and the food was cheap, but after the last time, about a month ago, we've decided never to eat there again. just this year(2007) alone they printed brand new menus twice, each time raising their prices significantly, but the food quality has stayed the same. and when it gets really crowded saturdays and sundays, service breaks down. we sat for about 15 minutes after i emptied my plate and teacup and not once did the coffee/tea refiller come to our table. the waiter never retuned to ask us if we wanted anything else, and the busboy certainly did not when he came by to take everything away. my partner would have liked to have relaxed a little longer with a second cup of coffee. honestly, i don't understand why people still come here. the food really isn't that good for the price (the food was never great, but you didn't mind paying a low price for it), and by the time you pay metro's prices now, you have many more choices now for much better food at comparable prices. eat elsewhere!

The real deal
I remember driving into NYC with my hire car and parking outside and getting a ticket. The place is heaven for breakfast and there is no fuss - just fast service. It's always a place I would love to bring to the UK. Don't change.

Wow what a treat, was here last October for my 1st trip to NY. With 13 year old fussy eater son and wow we still talk about the place. What a great way to start the day with real local New Yorkers. Well will be back in 6 weeks with daughter, So can't wait for the best breakfast in town Padraig from Hackney London

Your Typical NYC Diner
The service is very fast and efficient here. I had the omelette, which they forgot to add an ingredient and was pretty flat (I like them fluffy) but not greasy at all! Overall a good diner.
