    Unless you have the patients of a saint.

    My boyfriend and I had 7:45pm reservations on a Wednesday night. We were both starving and hadn't eaten since lunch and were very excited to eat at Mesa Grill. When we arrived we were seated right away, tucked in between two other tables that our elbows were practically touching. We got passed that and ordered our food promptly. Our order must have been in the kitchen by 7:55 the latest. I ordered the filet mignon with a chili rellieno and my boyfriend had the mahi-mahi with smoked tomato. By 8:30 we had devoured our entire bread basked and asked for seconds. Our waiter had assured us that our food would be arriving any moment now. Which was good because I was about to eat the person's arm next to me. At 8:50 (1 hour since we placed our order) I asked "what the heck" and he apologized and said the chef's were trying to feed the large party that had sat after us. He said he would bring us an appetizer on the house. At 9:15, our Queso appetizer arrived. It was delicious, but come on! Melted cheese for an hour and 25 minutes! We ate our queso and it was taken by a bus boy. At this time, I said to the waiter...It is coming soon, right? He said yes, it shouldnt be more than 10-20 more minutes. The manager finally walked our food out at 9:40. I said "Sir, are you aware we placed our order almost 2 hours ago?" He said he would look into it and return. He also said "Well, the most important part is that you now have your food...enjoy!" My filet was delicious. Cooked perfectly and had the Bobby Flay spice that I love. My boyfriends Mahi-Mahi was over the top citrus-ey, but we still inhaled it. The manager finally came back and said he would like to cover our desserts. We ordered the cookie platter and chocolate cake to go. We finally exited the restaurant at 10:20. It was the longest meal of my life. I do have to say, I will probably return but I wanted to share this experience.

    Who wants walk-ins!? Not Bobby Flay...

    If you don't have a reservation on a Friday night, forget it! We had friends visiting town and decided to have them give Mesa Grill a try! We were in the area so walked in as a party of 6 at 8:30pm and was told about a 1/2 hour wait. We thought that was fine so proceeded to the bar for some cocktails. Somehow, the place started to fill-up instead of thin out - uh oh, this was a bad sign. Long story short, we left at 10:30pm hungry and disgusted with the new manager who completely ignored us the entire evening and was even very rude to one of our party who asked him what had happened to the 1/2 hour wait when it actually became 2 hours long. His response was "We have to seat people with reservations first!" Well, of course one would expect that in any situation and at any place. However, if you see that you are indeed quite full, do not be shy to turn us away rather than allowing us to run up nearly a $200 bar tab with appetizers and then be rude to us when we only politely asked what had happened to our table! I really don't think the entire situation was handled very well at all. The new manager strikes me as a bit too young and inexperienced to handle such a busy room. The former managers, who are sadly gone now, were much more gracious from past experiences. This one looked flustered and not in control of the place or the situation, in comparison...

    Better in Vegas

    I was very disappointed with Mesa Grill. As a huge Bobby fan I just didn't get it - the food was good but not great - as an interior designer I have to say the ambiance was way off it could have been any run of the mill restaurant. I was expecting an experience and all I got was over priced food I could have gotten someplace else. FYI – his vegas place is much better!

    Service was poor

    The food is pretty good and the menu has lots to offer. Unfortunately, the service was atrocious. Our server did not come by to see how we liked our food or whether we needed anything (which was too bad since we were looking around for him for a good few minutes). He did not return promptly after giving us our dessert menu, and when we wanted our check, it took us a long time to flag him down again. Again, the food was fine. But the service was severely lacking.

    Good, but not what I expected.

    I went to Mesa Grill looking for good, fancy food. However, I did not find it. The food was good but nothing special. I had the Mesa Burger ($15). It was good, but I could have gotten the same type burger for half the price with all the flavor at a chain steakhouse. The restaurant was noisy and felt hollow. The decorating did not match the "Southwestern" style of food. We went on Saturday for bunch, so with the bread came a cherry crumb cake that was wonderful. A family of six ate for $120 with no dessert. I would go again but overall Mesa Grill did not meet my expectations.

    Fine for Lunch

    We went to Mesa for lunch. Overall is was a pleasant experience, though hardly exciting. The portions were large but not overwhelming. The pork sandwich was excellent, while the southwest burger was lacking. The fries were satisfactory. Service was good, and we were in and out in less than 45 minutes, good for a weekday lunch break.

    worth the hype

    Well, it was expensive but worth it. I had the wings and the steak, both incredible and different, with flavors I had never tasted before. Service was excellent, even though the place was really busy. For once, something worth the price.
