are you serious mr. flay? i hope you don't expect to survive on your name alone, because thats a good way to head down the road of mediocrity. maybe you have good ideas with flavors, but the staff is undertrained, the food was mediocre at best (buyers beware of sunday night's pork chop. toughest meat in town). i don;t mind paying for a good meal...but mesa is NOT a good value for the money. so, mr.flay i suggest you protect your reputation and give a good look to you operation at mesa.

On a recent trip to the city we went to Mesa and had a fantastic meal. The spiced pumpkin soup was out of this world and the Mahi Mahi entree was delicious. We added a great bottle of German riesling that was recommended to us and it fit the meal perfectly. We finished the meal with a melt in your mouth banana cream dessert. Our waiter was attentive, food service was timely, not rushed - even on a very busy Saturday night. We will return every time we are in the city!

Wife and I visited the restaurant on Monday Oct 19th 2009. Ordered the Tuna and Mahi and both were prepared perfectly. Appetizers and deserts were wonderful as well. From a food quality perspective, we were very pleased. The bad news was our server was snobby, arrogant and VERY non-attentive. We were there for an early dinner at approx 6:00 and they were not busy at all. She just stood around most of the time visiting with other employees and seldom looked our way to see if we needed anything. She was very slow to take our appetizer and dinner order. After dinner, it took 20 minutes to get the desert menu. She just didn't seem to care. I noticed she treated the other couple of tables she was waiting on in much the same way. I will go back for the food but hopefully have a different server experience. I'm sure the other servers are very attentive and hopefully we were just unlucky enough to get the dud of the bunch.

Went last night for the first time, setting aside the not-so-good reviews, I decided its Flay...it can't be that bad...well boy was i wrong! Terrible service and one bad entree followed by the next. Not to mention, we went with a group of 12 people, 4 of which who got their food, while the rest sat and waited about 15 minutes for theirs to come out. Waiter got orders wrong and forgot things...I thought i was going to a top notch restaurant not some hole in the wall... Food was flavored and seasoned all wrong, burnt tuna, chewy meat...overall just a terrible experience and COMPLETE WASTE of time and money...

My partner and I went for restaurant week. When we got there, there was a little "NY attitude." We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and they were still seating people with reservations from 15 minutes earlier. There were four people standing at the reservation desk doing very little except talking to each other. Once we were seated, the service was excellent. The bread guy brought some really great bread and the server was friendly without being overly familiar. The salad my partner ordered was mediocre, but jerk chicken on flat bread was out of this world. We ordered roast chicken with a spicy sauce and red snapper with a blackened coating. The chicken was excellent; the snapper was good. Both desserts, peach cheesecake and a chocolate cake, were both very good too. How good the coffee for dessert, when I order dessert, is my standard for how good the restaurant is. The coffee here was excellent. When I looked at the main menu, I found the prices not to be too outrageous. Portions are adequate. I would go again.

Wait staff was outstanding - we, and several other couples in our seating area, were allowed a long, delightful experience. The perfect amount of attention without pressure to vacate. The menu creativity was as expected - creative. The food was as expected - great. Flay's recipes have yet to disappoint us at home and this experience certainly did not, despite VERY high expectations set by outstanding results in our kitchen. Our experience was a very good value for the price paid.
