Mermaid Oyster Bar

This is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I dream about the Sauteed Calamari and the Oysters (only $1 during Happy Hour!). I try to get here whenever I get the chance.

We were very excited to try this restaurant after the wonderful reviews we had heard and read. We were very disappointed. Aside from delicious oysters, the food left much to be desired. The shrimp cocktail was standard. The over-priced lobster roll and tuna burger both lacked flavor. The french fries were the highlight of both dishes. We should have known not to expect much once we entered the restaurant. Every other place on the block was packed, but Mermaid was sadly half-empty.

There are many great items on the menu but you will be very sorry if you don't order the Lobster Roll - especially if someone at your table does! Wine list, food, service and vibe are great. I would recommend many times over. I loved the way the meal ended with a little surprise ...

I've never been so excited to go to a restaurant as I am when I am going to Mermaid Bar. For a while they had a great happy hour special of their AMAZING lobster roll and a beer for $20, but I can never resist the calamari appetizer so the total was a bit more than that. Brad is the best and friendliest server and always make me feel at ease. Definitely go!!

My husband and I have always gone to the 2nd Avenue location but now we are so excited to have the Mermaid Oyster Bar in our neighborhood. Service is excellent, food is fresh and delicious, the space is sexy. Love the $1 oysters during happy hour and the HOT and DIRTY martini is the best. Lobster roll still a fave but also love the calamari salad! Thanks for coming to the neighborhood!

Great things about Mermaid bar: all things. Nothing falls short--it's beautiful, fun, food is delicious, drinks are good, and the blue plate special--a beer and lobster sandwich for $20 is awesome.

Good place. If you are a fan of the Mermaid Inn you will also like this outpost. The focus here is more on oysters, with a very solid selection of both East Coast and West Coast oysters. It's only been open about a week, so they are still tweaking the menu a bit. The decor is clean looking and charming. Overall a nice experience and not too hard on the wallet either.
