    Downtown Chic

The atmosphere here is a fabulous combination of warm and cozy yet contemporary chic. Our waiter was very prompt and courteous. The food is pricey but the salads and main dishes are all delicious, beautifully arranged, and well proportioned. The only let-down was a mediocre apple dessert.

    More than the name implies

To me, Mercer Kitchen sounds like a restaurant that serves Mom's homecooking in a place with country decor. To my pleasant surprise, the cuisine and interior are far from that. The furnishings are totally contemporary and the food is "new." It's interesting that different patrons have radically different dining experiences. I loved my asparagus with raspberry vinaigrette, the roasted lobster on artichokes and the sorbet trio for dessert. The atmosphere became really lively when the diningroom started filling up. Our server was the most courteous and helpful young lady--always available when we needed her. My food was elegantly presented, tasty, and well worth the prices. I can definitely speak for my friend when I say that we had a great time.

    BEWARE OF COCKROACHES

After anxiously awaiting a celebration dinner at the Mercer Kitchen some old friends I was shocked when a cockroack walked across our table. We continued to try and enjoy our meal ( which was fairly good) when we noted the same scene at a table close by. We were towards the end of the meal at this time, and soon had the check in hand. When we told the manager on duty of the unfortunate event he made absoltuley no apology and told us ITS NEW YORK WHAT CAN WE DO,( I have dinedall over NYC and never experienced this) a few thinks come to mind 1. apologise 2. offer a desert, glass of wine, etc 3. HOPE THAT THE PARTY DOES NOT WORK FOR THE BOARD OF HEALTH. overall, good food rotten attitude for the price
