Fun times. Food is Amateur Night though

Ate at Mercer Kitchen last night with a large group of friends. Great place, decor, drinks and scene. We had a great time. The food however, was mediocre. I have no problem with this since I had such a great time. But a Jean-Georges restaurant? Come on. You're better than that.

    great aesthetic, value questionable

I enjoyed my appetizer, but their bread (exactly how old was it?) gave us all an unwelcome jaw workout. My pizza crust was burnt, and the waiters took turns trying to snatch my plate from me while I was still not even half done with my food. Otherwise, I liked the decor and the music, but they might want to re-think the quality of their food and service.

I dined here last evening with two colleagues. Two of us ordered from the Dine Out NY menu ($35 fixed price) and one ordered a la carte. We were all extremely pleased. The steamed shrimp salad with champagne dressing was great and the salmon entree was also very flavorful (and i usually don't enjoy salmon). The desserts were rich and tasty and because we waited quite a while for them, we also received a complimentary plate of cookies (which were simply delicious). I would come back here 100 times. It is a little pricey but you do get what you pay for at this kitchen.

    Definately worth the wait!

My boyfriend and I arrived on a Monday night around 8 while it was surprisingly very busy. Didn't make a reservation and the Maitre'd quoted us a wait of 30 minutes for the two of us. We had a round of drinks at the bar and enjoyed the setting and cocktails. After 30 minutes the Maitre'd checked on us to inform us he would have a table available for us soon. He sat us at a great corner table with a great server. We absolutely enjoyed our cocktails and dinner. The salmon and shrimp salad were delicious, as well as the NY strip which came out as ordered Medium. Service was prompt, drinks were great, atmosphere was energetic, and prices were reasonable... Highly recommend!

The venue itself and the undeniable buzz about the place cannot be faulted. Each of our servers was attentive and friendly and the cocktails we ordered to start were worth the (rather long) wait. The food, however, just wasn't up to par for me, with my lunch main of a lamb sandwich turning out to be a rather disappointing affair served in toasted white bread that had gone a bit cold and with a side of waffle cut potato chips. I would go again for the beautiful venue and good atmosphere but would probably stick to small dishes and drinks.

a great night out with the girls

The food was excellent. Our table of 4 shared a pizza and sashimi (fabulous) for appetizers and then we had salmon, lamb chops, steak and duck. All were very food and a good value for the money. The whole meal including a bottle of wine and tip came to about $65 per person. Our server was extremely attentive and we waited for nothing. The only negative thing was a round of drinks at the bar while we were waiting for our table was $57. The bar space is limited especially with servers passing by with food. The atmosphere was energetic (though the lighting was a bit dark so hard to read the menus). I highly recommend this restaurant for a night out with friends..

Went here during restaurant week. The cocktails are great. I ordered their burger medium rare and it came out well done. The other food at our table was tasty though, I just think for a jean georges restaurant it could have been better.
