WOW!
We didnt make reservations or even plan to go here, but my boyfriend and I were in soho having a cocktail at the Thompson hotel and decided to pop in at the Mercer Kitchen. The hostess told us we would have to wait till 11 to eat, but it really only ended up being about 30 minutes so ate promptly. The bar scene was great, good drinks. The food was amazing. We ordered 2 apps, the red snapper and two sides... and dessert. Food was excellent, a tad pricey, and the service was great. Great date spot!

Not worth time or money!
Please do yourself a favor and listen to the negative reviews. I didn't and ended up wasting time and money for food that was actually awful! If you care about food at all go to Savoy down the street!

Excellent Dining
Love the atmosphere of this restaurant. Very much a loft kind of feel with exposed kitchen in the back. This restaurant offers good food and service. Nice selection of wines by the glass. JUST REMEMBER, don't order sparkling water unless you want to pay $7 for it. Have been to this restaurant a couple of times and would go back again.

Good lunch
I recently had 2 great lunches at the Mercer Kitchen. One being on Christmas Day. Neither time we had a reservation, but were accomodated quickly. We found service efficient, and food to be tasty and well presented. The prix fixe lunch represents good value. I would return.

Great to stare, not to eat
First let me start the review by stating I am a good-looking 32 year old who likes to dine out and be social, going to hot spots, velvet ropes, and all that jazz. I always find it's important to know WHO is reviewing the restaurant- That being said, I will say that Mercer Kitchen has a pretty good scene, great people watching, truly a place that as you are walking through, other guests are trying to visually trash and adore you at the same time. You know the drill. So if you are looking for a be and be scene, then this is a decent place to start. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR GOOD FOOD AND SERVICE, this is NOT the place. No. no. NO! We were seating at about 9:45 or so- only ordered a few appetizers and 3 entrees. The 'large' seafood platter that came out was a HUGE bowl of ice, and 2 measly king crab legs, 8 shrimp (smallish), 8 tiny clams, 8 tiny oysters, and some mussels. So, asides from the fact I could have eaten this all myself, 5 (yes FIVE) of the muscles were unopened!!! For all you who don't know, this is a sign of a bad mussel. Shellfish, upon steaming/cooking, should naturally open up. We were served these! And no, they weren't accidentally in the mix. They way they were presented, each mussel is individually placed in the ice- so anyone would have immediately noticed. Also, we had to EXPLAIN this to our waitor. Isn't this common knowledge? Then it took an hour and 20 minutes to bring out the salads. THEN, the waiter came over and told us that TWO of the entrees on the menu were sold out. We explained this to the manager and all he could do was give excuse after excuse. How about admitting it was a terrible thing and comping a few items off the menu??? All in all, I will NOT go back, ever. Not even for the scene, it wasn't all that. There are way too many hot spots to go to in NYC.

Nice evening dinner
I recently visited for a Saturday dinner. The atmosphere was very nice and so was the food. I had the duck entree and it was wonderful! Our server was great and helpful. I was so impressed that I am going there today to try their lunch menu!
