Today my server insisted refills are not included with the $3 beverage, so I had to pay $6 for iced tea with my $14 sandwich. This was not the case 2 weeks ago. $3 is overpriced to begin with. At that price, a pitcher of tea that costs them 50 cents worth of tea bags brings in $20, that's pretty good profits. Miss me, I won't be back.

I was giving an out of state colleague a 'cooks' tour of NYC. only had a few hrs available after work (in NJ). I start these tours in lower manhattan, always, I show them the non traditional tour. Anyway we arrived in the Wall St. area around 7:30, walked a bit looking for a place to get quick bite. After ckg on menus outside the establishments chose the casual menu of Mercantile. We zero'ed in on the special sliced steak w/ arugula / feta etc. It was just fabulous, this coming from a once in awhile beef eater. The taste & tenderness of this marinated steak was superb. And because we were on time schedule to head uptown, the waitress obliged with quick service. I recommend anyone in wall street area, try the Mecantile Grill, people are friendly, food is just fine & reasonable, did i forget to mention this VERY REASONABLE FOR NYC. and i was able to street park nearby, (it was after biz hrs) :-)

I give Mercantile Grill 5 stars! My colleagues and I went for our Christmas Lunch in December 2011, and I had researched the restaurant prior to going for the group to making a choice between here and another restaurant. The Mercantile Grill was nearby our office, the staff were pleasant, and the hostess said they could accommodate us on 2 days notice. It was also very festive looking for the holidays which I liked. The area downstairs has a bar energy, however, the upstairs level was so nice with booths to sit in, and there is a private room perfect for our group of 7. When we arrived for lunch and taken upstairs, my Manager was not even aware there was a private room. The lunch was very well prepared and delicious, it took a little longer than expected because the staff was short handed due to the holiday week. However, my salmon was excellent and all enjoyed their meal, it was American Fare style so there was something on the menu for everyone. The pumpkin pie was also delicious. The cost was also reasonable. I would definitely return to Mercantile Grill for lunch or dinner with friends or colleagues, and my main reason I chose them also was they have an "A" rating!! Clean and good food. Happy New Year.

We popped into the Mercantile for a quick lunch while sightseeing and 3 hours later we were still there chatting to the owner and his great barstaff. Great atmosphere, felt as if we had known them for years. Will be sure to visit on our next trip to NY.

Great food! Great value! Great staff! I especially liked the exposed brick and old New York feel. Good service at a party I attended.

I eat here all the time and it's nothing fancy, but everything is tasty, the service is friendly and it's fast. It's a great place for a quick visit during a lunch hour. You never feel rushed, but they get you in and out.
