I give Mercantile Grill 5 stars! My colleagues and I went for our Christmas Lunch in December 2011, and I had researched the restaurant prior to going for the group to making a choice between here and another restaurant. The Mercantile Grill was nearby our office, the staff were pleasant, and the hostess said they could accommodate us on 2 days notice. It was also very festive looking for the holidays which I liked. The area downstairs has a bar energy, however, the upstairs level was so nice with booths to sit in, and there is a private room perfect for our group of 7. When we arrived for lunch and taken upstairs, my Manager was not even aware there was a private room. The lunch was very well prepared and delicious, it took a little longer than expected because the staff was short handed due to the holiday week. However, my salmon was excellent and all enjoyed their meal, it was American Fare style so there was something on the menu for everyone. The pumpkin pie was also delicious. The cost was also reasonable. I would definitely return to Mercantile Grill for lunch or dinner with friends or colleagues, and my main reason I chose them also was they have an "A" rating!! Clean and good food. Happy New Year.

We popped into the Mercantile for a quick lunch while sightseeing and 3 hours later we were still there chatting to the owner and his great barstaff. Great atmosphere, felt as if we had known them for years. Will be sure to visit on our next trip to NY.

Had the best time here 5yrs ago on our NYC honeymoon! Went back recently and wow again had a great night! Our bartender was amazing, remembered us...this is such a great place and we will always come back!

Great food! Great value! Great staff! I especially liked the exposed brick and old New York feel. Good service at a party I attended.

I eat here all the time and it's nothing fancy, but everything is tasty, the service is friendly and it's fast. It's a great place for a quick visit during a lunch hour. You never feel rushed, but they get you in and out.

I tried Mercantile Grill for lunch with 3 of my colleagues recently. We were all pretty impressed with the food. The service was excellent and the manager stopped by our table to make sure everything was ok. We'll definitely go back.

Went for lunch 7/2 with 7 others. Seated at put together rectangle in the bar area interfering with others nearby. Ordered a salad with pears, roasted pecans, goat cheese, arugula with vinegairette. The pears were CANNED. Yucch. Bad quality food. Colleague had a tuna melt - said it was the worst she had ever had. Stay away.
