    The Best Salads

I'm not even kosher but I will never go anywhere else for my choose your own ingredients salads. They have the largest selection of meats and vegatables. All fresh and delicious. They even have pastrami and corn beef as meat topping choices. Plus edamame and hearts of palms. Excellent value too. Whether you are kosher or not you MUST go to Mendy's for their fresh, delicious , very hearty salads. Oh yeah the portions are HUGE too!

    If you have other options...pass

I went to the Mendy's in Grand Central Station in their food court. I had their corned beef and I've been chewing it for half an hour and I still can't swallow it!! I'm looking around to make sure I have a chair to throw myself on in case I have to give myself the Heimlich maneuver! This gives new meaning to "fatty tough" meat. If kosher places like these didn't have a captive audience they would be out of biz in a week. The matzo ball soup tasted like soap water. Unless you're Kosher and don't have any other options, pass on this place.

    Not my favorite

Stale rye bread; disgraceful matzoh ball soup. Admittedly, did not try basics such as the corned beef or pastrami but what we did have was subpar. Brisket had no flavor; potted meatballs came in fake sauce; potato knish tasteless. Chopped liver was okay but nothing special. Oh how I miss the 2nd Ave. deli!!
