If country fried catfish...
Is on your list of favorite dishes, then don't miss the fried catfish and 3 egg nog waffles at Melba's. The place is small and packed most nights (a sign of a good food spot). Must try the Red Sangria!

Urg, the service!
Love Melba's but can't believe that I've been here 4 times and 3 out of the four (all during brunch) the same waiter is just so bad at being a waiter. The food is very good here, but the service is going to cause it to lose customers. Must say, the bartender and hostess were fine.

There mac and cheese is awsome but overall the whole meal was great and the drinks too
I have been there twice and the food is very good and so are the drinks, and as far as the service it was okay but i felt like my girlfriend and i were being rushed out

Everything fried.
I had the misfortune of going to this restaurant for pancakes. They were swimming in frying oil, all shiny. They were very very disgusting. I ordered tea, which meant Lipton in lukewarm water. Before ordering pancakes, I asked for eggs but changed my mind when I found out that they do not have whole wheat toast. What kind of breakfast place only has white bread? My server was nice. The ambiance was stuck up and pretentious. With nothing good to show for it. I live above this place, and I'm never going back.

Totally unprofessional
When we called to make a reservation for Sunday Brunch we were told that was the smart thing to do. But when we arrived (and on time) the hostess told us that our table wasn't available and that they don't take reservations after 12. She then said, she would accommodate us quickly but then proceeded to seat people who arrived after us. After 40 minutes of waiting, she was still making excuses and seating her friends. So we left, hungry and angry.

Best I've had so far
Melba's is the best "southern" food I've been able to find in Harlem so far. I like that the menu features a healthy spin on common item found at this type of restaurant. All in all the food is good, the service is good, and I have never been disappointed. Very consistent.

Don't Understand
I visited Melba's for the 1st time in early June, and the Spinach was the best I've ever had anywhere especially, as I'm not a big Spinach eater. The Turkey Meatloaf was seasoned, moist, and very tasty. I was telling everyone about the Melba's. So as a result, I took 2 friends back on July 13th, and had the same Turkey meatloaf. OMG, it was dry, cardboard tasting - I was so disappointed! My friend had the ribs - was also not impressed at ALL. So whoever was cooking back in June, please bring them back! Its not good when a Restaurant is not consistent.
