    Amazeballz!

It was my first visit to the "Big Apple". My girlfriend took us to Melba's and OMG....that mac n' cheese was delish! I also had the collards, sweet potatoes and potato salad. I enjoyed every bite! We were sat immediately. The ambiance was nice also. I look forward to my next visit, as I can't stop asking her to bring me a plate every time she comes down south. Melba's will be the first stop for a southern girl in search of soul food up north!

    A Wonderful Experience

Went to Melba’s with my girlfriend for her birthday. The atmosphere, service and food service was wonderful. I had the southern catfish, candied yams and collard greens. My girlfriend had fried chicken, candied yams and spinach. We had coconut/pineapple cake and sweet potato pie for dessert. Everything was superb. My only concern is that the portion sizes are medium—I wish it was larger. This is my second time going there. I will definitely return.

    Didn't even get to order

I just waited on hold for 13 minutes trying to put in a take out order. When I called I asked if I could put in an order to go and the man said I sure could and then put the phone down without even telling me to hold. I assumed someone else was going to come on and take my order but it never happened. It wouldn't be so bad if I thought they were just busy but I could hear all of the different conversations that the staff was having with each other, including the man who set the phone down, about nothing to do with customers. The menu looks great but unfortunately this VERY poor customer service trumps nice looking menu.

    Gathering of Good Friends....

Dining at Melba's is as if you are in the home of your favorite relative...(and you don't have to the dishes) whose chief mission is to welcome you with kindness, ambiance and yes...hands down, Great Food! From being greeted at the door, and seated in the intimate space, it is easy to settle in and to just relax and enjoy. I feel greedy as my mind does a brain freeze....though I know what is on the menu....trying to decide what to order first. Just know, I have to talk myself out of ordering the sweet potato pie first...the food is fresh and lovingly prepared and I highly recommend to all...especially if you are celebrating a birthday....and you may be able to meet the wonderful legendary owner Melba Wilson! Her staff reflect her grace and are eager to please. FYI: Ms. Wilson owns Melba's 125 in the Harlem State Office Building and a sought after catering business, Melba's Catering.

I can still love you, if you go back to the way you were...

Very disappointed. I’ve been going to Melba’s for at least 2 years. I loved the place. I went last week and the was told that the chef was changed. I normally order the Shrimp, Mac and Cheese, Collard Greens and a side of rice and peas. The Collard Greens was not tasty and lack the usual seasoning. The mac and cheese wasn’t bad but not as good as before, the rice and peas and the Shrimp taste the same. A friend order the Yams and they look like carrots and had a funny taste. The Walffles did not have the same fluffiness to them. It was one whole waffle instead of the 3. We were a party of 5 and the waiter was not as accommodating, he seemed to be overwhelmed and distracted. To top it off, a friend order the Sweet Potato pie and they brought out the pies that you would receive from the corner chicken store. Please find the old waiter and hire him back!

    just ok

went there for brunch...the fried chicken was very average, but the waffles that went with it were really good. also, the catfish was just ok, but they had really good brunch drinks. it was so loud in the restaurant though, it was virtually impossible to have any type of discussion without saying, "what did you say?" over and over!
