I can still love you, if you go back to the way you were...

Very disappointed. I’ve been going to Melba’s for at least 2 years. I loved the place. I went last week and the was told that the chef was changed. I normally order the Shrimp, Mac and Cheese, Collard Greens and a side of rice and peas. The Collard Greens was not tasty and lack the usual seasoning. The mac and cheese wasn’t bad but not as good as before, the rice and peas and the Shrimp taste the same. A friend order the Yams and they look like carrots and had a funny taste. The Walffles did not have the same fluffiness to them. It was one whole waffle instead of the 3. We were a party of 5 and the waiter was not as accommodating, he seemed to be overwhelmed and distracted. To top it off, a friend order the Sweet Potato pie and they brought out the pies that you would receive from the corner chicken store. Please find the old waiter and hire him back!

    just ok

went there for brunch...the fried chicken was very average, but the waffles that went with it were really good. also, the catfish was just ok, but they had really good brunch drinks. it was so loud in the restaurant though, it was virtually impossible to have any type of discussion without saying, "what did you say?" over and over!

    Great Mac n Cheese but

Recently went to Melba especially for her chicken and waffles. The restaurant was packed and very loud so you could hardly carry on a conversation with your guests. I was excited to try her famou chicken and waffles. The waffles were very good but the chicken did not have any seasoning on it. Very disappointed. The mac and cheese was very good but not worth the price of admission.

    Leeheung's review

The atmosphere was pleasant. However, the noise level was too loud. The food was mediocre. I had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and collaredi greens. It seems to be a popular spot. However for me, it doesn't live up to the hype because the food isn't worth going back for. Melba has to step up with the taste.

Very enjoyable - great Mac n Cheese

Place was crowded and had to wait, which is a good sign, but Melba accomodated us quickly at the bar, since we had to get back to a bus at a certain time. We were treated fantastic and had a delicious meal. Can't beat the Mac n Cheese. It is definitely on my list of places to return.

    Great food, Mediocre Service

I went to Melba's with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday. Melba greeted us and sat us at our table. She was very friendly but the service went down hill from there. Our server didn't come to our table until we had been sitting there for 3 minutes. It took 10 minutes after that to get our drink and food orders. We never got refills and our server didn't come back to the table until 20 minutes after we finished eating to ask if we wanted dessert. The food at Melba's is great but the service really needs improvement.
