...
If you are into a restaurant for the decor, then this is the restaurant for you. Other than the decor and the an good sake menu, the restaurant disappoints across the board. Service was uneven. None of the eight dish tasting menu plus the "chef sushi supplement" were neither memorable nor original. I can go on and on but will not. For the price one pays here ($175), there are a plethora of other restaurant in the city where you can enjoy both the decor, service, and food.

Great Food, Terrible Service
The food at Megu was delicious; I enjoyed everything they put out on the table. I was extremely disappointed with the service. They were slow, rude, pretentious and non-attentive. It was frustrating to pay so much for such bad service. If they can improve the service, the restaurant will be a real winner.

memorable experience
i just had such a wonderful experience tonight ! impressed already by the remarkable design of the interiors and after a friendly welcoming i had one of the most amazing cocktails ever in the lounge while waiting for my friends. the dining experience has been impeccable ! crispy shrimps in mango sauce ... pure genius ! excellent service and vibrant atmosphere. after dinner we went back to the lounge upstairs which turned out to be a very trendy spot ! in 3 words: more than worthy !

This is not Japanese food.
Best cold sake menu I have ever seen. Four different namasakes and several pages of junmai dai jinjos. Very nice. Service was OK, but I did have to explain several times that I wanted "sushi", not deep fried mayonnaise coated shrimp. While the food isn't bad, it isn't sushi (or robata) either. I'm sorry, but it simply isn't. This is Japanese-esque food intended for people who don't know, or don't want to eat, actual Japanese food. It's like a bad imitation of Nobu's "new style". And the portions are terribly small at any price. If you have friends in from Oklahoma that want to try "sushi", Id say take them here and bring your wallet. But if we want the real deal, this aint it.

Very Disappointing Meal
First off, I have to add a caveat that I went to Megu during Restaurant Week. That being said, I walked into Megu and was extremely impressed by the ambience. Simply put, it's a stunning restaurant, from the ice Buddha in the center of the restaurat to the brass lanterns hanging from the ceilings. Sadly, though, the food does not come anywhere close to the decor. The appetizers were decent but nothing stellar (mine was actually too salty). The entrees were appalling. I ordered the Kobe steak and actually spit my bite out back onto the plate. For some reason, there is a heavy taste of smoke on the Kobe beef. The server brought me lamb chops as a substitute but the lamb chops had the same problem, albeit with slightly less overpowering taste of smoke. The dessert should never have been called such. It was a green tea crepe that was overpowered by the amount of green tea in it. I had a bite and that was all I could stomach. It's a shame that such a beautiful restaurant could serve such atrocious food. You would think that a restaurant would try to display its best cuisine for Restaurant Week. Megu apparently does not believe this to its and my great misfortune.

famous place
Megu is beautiful. The bar upstairs is great. The atmosphere amazing. The lamb chops are great, the cooked food is great. The sushi and sashimi is overpriced and overrated. I have had not good quality fish there. The hamachi was too fishy smelling and tasting, too much hype.
