I agreed that the food is not good. You want good Chinese food, go to one of the Chinatowns in Manhatten, Flushing, and 8th Ave. in Brooklyn. The food is loaded with MSG, although they claimed not to use it. I am always thirstry after a meal. Again, people will says it is the best but who are you comparing it to. Price and value is best not this "Americanized" chinese food.

THe food at this place is below average. I've lived in china for several years and I know what good chinese food is supposed to be. this is cheap, so people think that it's great, but it's just a good value. their soups are actually not bad, and they're not inauthetic, it's just like bad street chinese food you'd get in china. their non-soups, however, are deplorable. everything takes the same, and like not much. totally oily. the only reason i go here is b/c my coworkers drag me there sometimes when i'll order the most plain things possible so there's little room for error. Even by new york standards this place is subpar.

This is my favorite chinese place to go to since it is absolutely the best. You get DELICIOUS food at bargain prices with huge portions. Delivery is lightning fast. I love the curry soup they have, the flavor is so distinctly different from any place else. Now that it's colder, i always go in for their soups which i have 9 different noodles to pick from. When i'm not that hungry, I go for dumplings which are all great, i love them fried. House special sesame chicken always a plus! The BBQ stuff you can't go wrong either. They customize the order just the way i like it. Their menu is so large that i try something different all the time and bring my friends in as well. They love this place too. I will be coming in for years to come!

while i love food, i rarely write food reviews. however, after a recent visit to MEE, i was shocked by the generous rating that this dive restaurant received. so here's my two cents: the decor/atmosphere was non-existent, but given the prices, this is somewhat expected. however, what was unforgiveable was the food. i ordered the tofu and vegetable stir-fry which was frightening to look at - everything was drowning in a heavy brown sauce and the tofu was barely recognizeable. my bf had the chow fun with bbq pork. while this dish looked more appetizing than mine, it didn't taste much better. i know some of the other reviewers raved about the bbq pork, but i thought it was probably the worst i've ever had. five minutes into our lunch, we were trying to figure out where we could go afterwards...

I've been going to this place off and on for years. I've found the food to come out steamin' hot (freshly cooked), the vegetables very fresh and good. The spicy dishes also come out rather good. The lunch special isn't the greatest, just because the choices are limited but the hot and sour soup is awesome. If you stick with their regular entrees you can't go wrong. The steamed vegetable or pork dumplings are awesome, the sesame chicken awesome, the roast port soup with mee noodles EXCELLENT. I've been to many other Chinese restaurants in the City and they always let me down, but not this place. Lunchtime is packed, so don't be suprised to be sat down, squeezed in, and pushed out. But, after becoming a regular, the staff is always quite friendly with me. The tea is always hot, the tables are always clean. Me and a friend always get out of there with like $12-15 (with appetizer). Every friend I've taken there loves the place. Don't let the cheap atmosphere fool you, this place is great. If you get a chance order the pineapple slices for dessert and tip the staff well, they deserve it.

Stumbled across this place by accident while strolling 9th ave. The decor is nothing -- the same flower patterns and simple pink seats as every other tacky chinese hole-in-the-wall throughout the world. But the food was the best (basic) chinese fare I've had outside of hong kong. DIVINE. Try the wonton noodle soup with roast pork: the pork is barbecued to perfection, with occasional crunchy roasted edges, and the wontons taste authentic and home made. My partner loved the rich tomato fried rice. The service too is simple, no-nonsense, ever-present and fast, just how I like it. This is place is nothing fancy and it's not a place to take a date. It is just dirt-cheap, super-tasty, delicious delicious real cantonese food. I will certainly be back.
